The Philadelphia Eagles are doing what most teams are doing during the early offseason: making sure all of their assistant coaching positions are filled and strong. One of the new coaches, Doug Pederson, has a history with the Eagles as he was also their quarterback during his playing days. Pederson will be taking the role as the Eagles offensive quality coach. Along with Pederson, Rory Segrest was named defensive line coach, Ted Daisher was made special teams coordinator and James Urban was give the position of quarterbacks coach. Fans can be there to see the new lineup of coaches with Philadelphia Eagles tickets from http://www.stubhub.com/philadelphia-eagles-tickets/.

Pederson spent his playing years both in the NFL and in the World League of America Football. He started his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins in 1992, where he stayed until 1995. That same year, he was added to the roster of the Green Bay Packers. He spent the 1999 season with the Eagles. That season, he played in all 16 games and started nine, tallying 1,276 yards and seven touchdowns. After spending a season with the Cleveland Browns in 2000, he finished out his NFL career with the Packers. The position with the Eagles marks his first coaching position in the NFL.

Rory Segrest played offensive tackle at Alabama before starting his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater in 1994. He moved to graduate assistant in 1996 and then took that same position with Auburn for two seasons. In 1999, he started at Southeast Missouri State, staying until 2001. He coached at Samford in many capacities from 2002 to 2005. In 2006, he started his career with the Eagles as their special teams quality control coach. During the 2007 and 2008 seasons, he was the Eagles special teams coordinator.

Ted Daisher joins the Eagles after spending time both with the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns, where he was also the special teams coordinator. James Urban is no stranger to the Eagles way of doing things either. He was a wide receiver and kick returner in college, playing for Washington and Lee University. After graduation, he earned his master’s degree in communication from Clarion University. While earning his degree, he served as the team’s graduate assistant and he worked with wide receivers and tight ends. Upon graduation, he became the director of football administration at Pennsylvania under Al Bagnoli. He became the director of football operation in 2000, a position he stayed in until 2003. He started his career with the Eagles in 2004 when he became their assistant head coach. In 2007, he was moved to offensive assistant and quality control coach.

In 2008, the Eagles had an interesting season that started with wins over the St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers, but also included losses to the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears. A low point in the season was their 13-13 tie with the downtrodden Cincinnati Bengals during week 11, for which quarterback Donovan McNabb took heat. The Eagles rallied to finish 9-6-1 and made the post season. They topped the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants in the playoffs before losing to the Arizona Cardinals.
