NBA Tickets - Western Conference All-Star Starters By Morgan Dunn At Isnare.com Ezine Articles

People purchase NBA tickets from http://www.stubhub.com/nba-tickets to see the best players in the game. The best players are usually the ones starting in the All-Star Game. Let’s take a look at which five players were named as starters for the Western Conference in the 2009 NBA All-Star Game. (Note: All statistics are as of January 27th.)

Guard – Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets: Late in the voting process there were rumors that Tracy McGrady was going to beat out Paul for this spot, and that would have been a travesty. Paul is one of the best five players in the league and is well on his way to the Hall-of-Fame. He’s got a chance to be one of the best three point guards to ever play the game and carries his team on a nightly basis. He’s sniffed a quadruple-double multiple times this season and is one of the league’s toughest competitors. He should be a starter for many years to come.

Guard – Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers: This one was a no-brainer. Bryant is one of the two best players in the entire NBA, some would say the best. Nobody has a more versatile offensive repertoire than Bryant, who can do it all; he’s also a great defender. His numbers are down a bit, but that’s mainly to do with the Lakers’ depth and his decrease in playing time as a result.

Forward – Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs: Duncan is one of the most consistent players in the game and is probably the best power forward in the history of the NBA. Duncan had to really put his team on his back earlier this season when both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were out with injuries. Duncan is a lock for the hall-of-fame and is one of the classiest guys in the league.

Forward – Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix Suns: There’s no denying that Stoudemire is an amazing talent, and would be even more so had he not undergone micro-fracture surgery a few years ago, but he just hasn’t performed to the level of an All-Star starter this season. It could be as a result of the team running the ball through Shaq in the post, but the drive just doesn’t seem to be there for Stoudemire as in years past. I think either All Jefferson of the Minnesota Timberwolves or Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder would have been a better selection. Jefferson is averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds while averaging less than two turnovers per game, all while facing constant double teams in the post. Durant is having a fantastic season as well, averaging 24 points and six rebounds per game on good shooting percentages for his position and age.

Center – Yao Ming, Houston Rockets: Yao will probably be voted to this slot until his career is over thanks to the tremendous vote he gets from his native China. He deserves it this season, but Shaq was a close second. The trend of Chinese basketball fans voting for their countrymen could be a problem in the future. Yi Jianlian received a lot of All-Star votes this season as well, and the NBA would have had a real crisis had he been voted in as a starter.
