Grand Theft Auto is a video game available for purchase at the local video game store or electronic store as well as on the internet. It has become incredibly popular since its original release in 1997 and there have been a handful of sequels released since then. The Grand Theft Auto games that have been released by DMA Design are Grand Theft Auto, GTA 2, GTA III, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA: Vice City Stories and GTA IV. GTA: Chinatown Wars is slated to be released in March of 2009 for the Nintendo DS handheld system and will include a couple of touch screen mini games. The GTA series has also been released on PlayStation Portable and Game Boy Advance.

The Grand Theft Auto video game series is controversial to say the least. The premise of the video games is to walk around the city and steal vehicles while pulling in as much money as possible off of the streets. The main character can pull in money by robbing other citizens in the video game. This is done in some very unorthodox ways by beating up the citizens and even killing them. The video game is extremely violent. The main character can get into fights with gangs, get chased by the police, and get run over by all kinds of vehicles. The main premise of the vehicle is to steal cars, trucks, vans, taxis, buses, ambulances and police cruisers. The title of the video game explains its premise.

There are tons of video games on the market today that employ the use of violence in their plot and this series of games is no different. Aside from the premise of stealing vehicles at any cost, the games have some pretty cool vehicles in them. All of the cars in the games are made up; none of them have the name or features of real vehicles on the automotive market today. The only vehicles that look like real vehicles are the fire trucks, ambulances, and police cruisers. For example, some vehicles in the games are called the Boxville, the Cavalcade, the Feltzer, the Merit and many more.

The game is set in a created city that is named after any real cities in the country but sometimes the player can see some similarities of New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles in the game. Grand theft auto, the crime, is a serious crime in the United States that is encouraged in the video game series. Many community activists across the country are worried that by playing this game too much, the players will get a false sense of reality and try to steal vehicles in real life. This video game series has fought through a lot of controversy since its original release in 1997 but it continues to grow in popularity with every new game release. In the game, the main character does not use the normal tools that are used to steal real life cars. The main character in each game just uses his hands and violent force to remove a person from a vehicle.
