It is the best of times; it is the worst of times, to paraphrase the English literary genius, Charles Dickens. Indeed, weddings can bring out the best and the worst in people, can become the most joyful and the most sorrowful of occasions and can become terribly stressful and horribly distressing that it is no wonder there is a term for the bride of the moment - bridezilla.

You need not, however, become a bridezilla! You can plan your wedding with the least stress but achieve the best results possible, with smiles all around. As they say, make your wedding planning easy-peasy, lemon squeezy.

Plan Early

Unless your wedding is a spur of the moment thing, you should have plenty of time to plan it. You will not be the harried bride hurrying through the details of the wedding! That way it gives you more time to enjoy the feeling of being the pampered future bride, too.

Ask for Help

No matter how hard you try, you cannot do it all. You have to delegate responsibilities to your family, friends and the wedding party. You will be surprised to learn how people would like to help you in any small way.

Stick to the Budget

Your wedding must adhere to a strict budget regardless of outside pressure to do otherwise. Remember that you will be footing the bills for the wedding and therefore you will be the one suffering with debts once the actual expenses exceed the budget! You will be pleasantly surprised how that sobering thought can decrease your stress levels.

De-stress Often

Smell the roses, exercise, read a book, laugh with friends, bond with your fiancé, listen to music, take a nap, and get away from it all. The important point is that you disassociate yourself from the hustle and bustle of planning your wedding, this way you can re-enter it with a fresh mind and a fresh body.

Involve the Groom

In this day and age, the groom must help in planning the wedding; he is, after all, the other half of the wedding stars! You can enlist his help in sending out the invitations, looking for groomsmen and bridesmaid gifts and other tasks that will not give him the heebie-jeebies.

Concentrate on what you can Control

Your stress levels will take a nosedive when you can relinquish control over uncontrollable circumstances. For example, instead of worrying over the weather, why not plan to accommodate it? Or instead of acting referee between long-feuding family members, concentrate on what they will do for you in spite of their mutual hatred.

Focus on the Marriage

Remember this: Your wedding is a ceremony sanctioned by society as a symbol of your commitment to stay married to each other till death do you part. The most important point in the whole exercise is your marriage. Think about that and surely your stress levels over the tiniest bit of things gone wrong will soon be gone.

Of course, you can always elope. At the very least, you will never worry about selecting the perfect venue and menu, sending out the invitations and entertaining the guests and you will not be the bridezilla everybody loves to hate either.
