Candle stick is an exclusive outdoor sports and an entertainment stadium located at San Francisco in California. The park was initially built for the major giants or the noteworthy people in San Francisco who played in the park from 1960 till they moved on to the AT&T park which was then renamed as the Pacific bell park in the year 2000. At present the park is the home field of the NFL team of 49ers San Francisco team; however the team moved from the park in the 1971. The candlestick park would be renamed by the new 49ers stadium by the year of 2012. The history behind the naming of the park as the Candlestick Park is quite colorful, the Candlestick Park and the cove were a long time ago named after the indigenous bird by name called as the Candlestick bird.

It was in the year 1954 that they started speaking about building a stadium, Mayor George was the person who promised on the issue of building an exotic park on the condition if they would move in the area. At the end of the year a $5 million bond was issued so that they could start the work of building the park. It was after this issue that the Brooklyn Dodgers, the New York giants decided to move towards the west coast after the 1957 season. Hence the Giants moved to San Francisco and on the other hand the Dodgers moved on to Los Angeles. There were two probable stations which were kept in consideration so as to build the stadium; the two options were Downtown and the other in Candlestick. However because of the price consideration the area in Candlestick was chosen. This area is located at the area near the San Francisco bay.

The construction of the stadium began in the historic year of 1958, as the construction started there were many problems which arose. There were complains on numerous reasons by the neighbors, there was a case where there was a complain on the irregular funding being made by the grand jury and further adding fuel to fire was the delay in the installation of the chairs because of the strike of the Teamster, above all the reasons the park was called as the ire trap because of the different problems that arose in the due course of the construction. However the stadium was constructed and it was completed with best outcome results. It was named as the Candlestick Park, the first ever game was played on April 20, 1961. Initially when the stadium was launched it had the seating capacity of 45000. However after few years of existence it is important to note that the stadium began to deteriorate. However to improve the condition of the stadium the city spent another $16.1 million so as to improve the conditions of the stadium and make it a complete multi purpose stadium where even the San Francisco 49ers could have access for playing. After this the seating capacity of the park was increased to 59000. However very few changes have been made since 1971 at the Candlestick park.
