Sean Himebaugh

I don't have much time today, so I'm going to move very fast. I left off in my last piece by talking about how important successful people are to the world. Have you ever read "Atlas Shrugged," by Ayn Rand? If not, I will summarize it for you. It is a fictional story that asks the question; 'What if the world's movers and shakers decided to quit'. Her entire philosophy was based on this question. Her life's work was devoted to bringing people's drive up to a new level.

I have found that there are two primary types of people who have not attained total success. One type is my type; those who felt anger and frustration at being under-valued and under-utilized. I spent much of my time in the last article speaking to that type of person. The second type is the person who has been convinced that success simply doesn't happen for them. There are many different reasons for this. For some of you, it might be that a church told you that success leads to hell ("...easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle..."). For others, it might be that other people in your lives wouldn't allow you to believe in yourself. Maybe it's that you let TV convince you that life moves in half-hour or hour-long cycles. Perhaps you just listened too often to other people's nonsense.

Now that the two primary types have been identified, I can begin the show you the way out.
Save this article, because you will find it very useful to refer back to later in life. Here is a crash course in the human psyche, as detailed by countless inspirational authors, metaphysicians, psychologists, and religions throughout time. There are three parts to the human mind. It helps to think of them as your human Operating System (OS), or soul-computer. They are:

-The Conscious Mind- This is the present-tense mind that experiences life. It is primarily responsible for Will, Focus, Rationale, Sensory Reception, and facilitating communication between the various other aspects of the mind. Think of it as the RAM of the soul-computer.

-The Subconscious Mind- The seat of all Memory, Creativity, Imagination, and Emotion. It is the ROM of the soul-computer. The Conscious acts in life by acting upon the Subconscious, focusing and willing it into action. The Conscious receives and interprets information, but the Subconscious stores it. Whether we know it or not, the Subconscious always remembers. Understanding this is critical to our growth.

-The Supreme Conscious Mind- If Conscious and Subconscious act as RAM and ROM, respectively, then Supreme Conscious acts as the Virus Protection and Automatic Updates. Intuition is how it communicates with the Conscious; just like a pop-up bubble tells you when something is wrong or ready for upgrade. It also acts as the Creator-Of-My-Destiny, the magic Genie bringing your life towards you. It has always acted as that. That is why this article is so important.

Our goal as human beings is to restore order within our minds by using the Conscious to willfully influence the Subconscious. That is how we take responsibility for our lives. That is how we become great.

I'm running short on time now, so here is a practical exercise you can begin to use right now. It will help you immensely to turn your mind around in favor of success.

Step 1: Spend less time watching TV. Your Subconscious sees and stores all the information bombarding it. It may well be that the TV has created a feeling of despair in you mind, where none actually exists.

Step 2: Start spending time probing your subconscious, remembering things that might be contributing to a lack of self-worth.

Step 3: Record your results. You don't even need paper. Use Google docs or MS Word.

This simple program serves many purposes. It protects your Subconscious from further harm (Step 1). It allows you to begin asserting your Conscious Mind as the controller of your present life, while also scanning for old viruses and malware (Step 2). Finally, it allows you to reinforce the progress from Step 2 by recording all results (Step 3).

In my next article, I will be going much further in depth on just how the mechanics of the mind work, and how to revamp yourself as controller of all thoughts and actions.
