The 80’s are back! Revamped and revitalised!

You knew you were holding onto those leggings for a reason, just a pity the elastic has gone! So grab a shoehorn, breathe in and squeeze yourself into those skinny jeans! (Ok, maybe not, nice try though!)

The 1980’s was packed full of classic’s. Family Fortunes could have a field day, what with all the top films, music, gadgets and gizmo’s! A decade of pure vintage T-Shirt fodder!
They just do not make them like they use to - Back to the Future, Top Gun, The Breakfast Club and I bet you stay in on a Saturday afternoon when you see The Goonies is on!

TV programmes and cartoons have evolved into mainstream films, Miami Vice, Starsky and Hutch, Ninja Turtles, Transformers and Inspector Gadget, hold on strike that last one and some of those others were a bit dodgy too! A new Dungeon and Dragons film is to be released soon. (Again that could go either way!). Sources tell me Thundercats is set to grace the big screen. But as for Knight Rider, I think they should of left that one alone, I mean who could compete with the Hoff!

The West End had also taken inspiration. Dirty Dancing, the ultimate chick flick has been made into a hit show. To the absolute delight of those who get dragged along, you thought watching the film hundreds of times was bad enough, now you get to witness it live, ’oh joy’ I hear you scream!

Maybe Queens ‘We Will Rock You’, would be a good compromise!

Kylie made a successful comeback. Duran Duran sort of reappeared. Madonna never really went away and will probably still be going for years to come. (I wonder what’s in her tea?)

Some of the classic 80’s pop performers are even continuing to tour together, well hobnobs aren’t cheap, and if demand is there, who can blame them! Besides, how many of you still own an album from back then, ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ on a vinyl double album per chance? Thought so, they look so Stone Age now!

1. Let me guess, I bet at some point the top present on your gift list was a Rubik Cube. Am I right? Ahh, the hours, ok, it was more like weeks and months spent trying to solve it. Peeling off the stickers didn’t really work and ‘cheat’ books were not an option (shame on you). But smashing them, well that did have the bonus of alleviating the stress they caused, but was kind of ruined when you realised you could not piece it back together…without the aid of glue. Yes, they will always remain one of life’s unsolved mysteries!

So, are you sitting there now, reminiscing about the good old days? The Christmas’s and birthdays filled with excitement and anticipation as you unwrapped each present. Even to this day you are amazed at how your parents painstakingly wrapped that Space Hopper! It was great, you even managed to bounce around the living room on it before unwrapping it! Sticky tape is such an underrated accessory.

Yes, I think it is safe to say that those glorious neon enhanced years have put a charm on us once again.
So grab your legwarmers and slip on your sweatbands, turn the music up and dance like your “gonna live forever”!!
