Stop Dog Barking

A dogs excessive barking is at best an embarrassment and at worst a neighbourhood problem. It is estimated that over 60 million dogs are part of American family Life and the staggering statistic on dog barking is about one third of this number have barking problems.

In my childhood my father had his method to stop dog barking with our own pet and also if it was the neighbor’s dog barking - he simply took a bucket of water or the garden hose and caught the unsuspecting animal by surprise, which put the dog into temporary shock, and the barking ceased for a while.

However today we consider our pets differently. We know they have no defence against human or inhuman action and know that animals can be damaged when treated unjustly and cruelly.

Dogs are social animals and the hardest thing for them to take is loneliness – being left out of the pack. Any dog will submit to the pack leader by exposing their vitals and laying on their back this they prefer to what can only be described in human terms as solitary confinement

It is this abject sense of loneliness that causes most dogs into excessive dog barking and annoying the hell out of the neighbours but simply from the animal’s point of view just crying out for company.

So how you depart from your dog is so important.to stop dog barking. It needs to be casual and ordinary. Be careful not to make too much of the event or the dog will quickly pick up the vibes from you that it is going to have a significant time of loneliness. How you return is equally important do not make a huge fuss which will reinforce that you have been away and that you are marking it with being over welcoming

Of course you should be glad to greet your pet at the return time but it is the overdoing that is destructive so be moderate and just treat the moment as important but not over done.

The intrusion of outside noise is also a cause to set the dog barking . If the dogs kennel or area of resting is near the main street where passerbys are notices and traffic noise is near your family pet will be constantly on guard waiting for the next noise or passerby and then will burst into a barking process as a reaction.
Noise can also be positive and some pet owners have resorted to placing a radio or recorded music near the dogs resting place which sort of fulfills the old saying “music doth tame the savage beast”

Another obvious tactic is to provide your dog with toys and discovery games in his play area especially for the younger dog for failing here you will not only suffer a dog barking but a yard that is destroyed by incessant digging and ripping up of any available plant life.
