The team building activities are formulated so as to enhance the problem solving capability of the group members of a team so that they could work effectively together when they have to perform the role based as well as the task based functions. Many team building activities and the initiative tasks tend to have the feel of kids games while the other activities are quite novel and they involve the tasks that are quite unique, complex and they have been designed to cater to meet the specific purposes. The initiative games involve the rope courses, the night time activities and they also include the exercises that can last for several days. The team building activities often find their place of execution in the meetings, presentations, workshops, training, seminars, education programs, corporate training with the college, high, middle, elementary and the pre- school groups and correctional settings. Team building exercising can be adopted virtually for any setting whether it is professional, or a social setup be it a large group or a small group.

However it is to be remembered that the success of the activities depends upon the role played by the facilitator. There are different team building activities that have to be facilitated in different ways along with the different groups and hence this leads to a variety of experiences and the different outcomes. Incase the facilitator performs his role in an efficient way then even the simplest game can have an excellent experience for the participants and on the other hand if there is a poor instructor then it is important to note the fact that even the best formulated can go as an activity in vain.

An important and most noticeable activity of the team building exercises is the participant’s reflection, what they perceive about the activity, what their approach towards the activity is and what they think are the possible points of learning. For example it is important to that you can take the video of team during the activity and later on the video could be watched for further analysis. Then they can have a better idea of what is the fact and how the different teams are getting along. Some of the team building activities have been listed below:

Helium stick:

This involves the deceptive team building activities. In this game the teams need to form two different that face each other. After this it is important to note that the facilitator would place the long thin stick in between the index finger and then they are given the goal of lowering the stick to the ground but in actual the stick goes up and it is upto them to decide a strategy so that they could reach the goal.

Toxic waste:

This is a popular game that intends to engage a small group. This is equipped with a bungee cord along with a rope, the group has to transport a bucket which is full of toxic waste and then transport it to a bigger bucket so that the effect of toxic waste can be neutralized.
