You may get excited about a keyword like purses with over 1,830,000 searches a month, but give me a term like Fendi Spy Bag with 22,000 searches per month and at least 3000 peripheral searches and I can make money with that type of term all day long.

3. Verify That You Are In A Profitable Market- Conventional thinking would have you believe that competition is a bad thing. Frankly, I love to see competition in the market place spending money on advertising. The more competition the better. Why? Because it means there is money to be made. Look at the advertising on Google and Yahoo to see if anyone is advertising the product and how long they have been advertising and how much they are spending. I like to see at least 4 ads but actually prefer to see at least 4 pages of advertisers in for the keyword that I am Going after. You can utilize various research tools to give you this information.

4. Analyze The SEO/Web 2.0 Competition - This is the real secret sauce of dominating a niche market very quickly. You need to look at the overall number of competing websites for your keyword term. Do a quick scan for how many Allintitle: and Allinurl: searches there are for your keyword term in Google Search. Look at which Web 2.0 properties like Hubpages, Ezinearticles, Youtube, Press Releases are showing up and then devise a distribution strategy to get your content seen. Look at the number of inbound one way links of your competition and competitive they are for your keyword(s). Look at which social web 2.0 properties are being favored and which ones are not. When you learn the exact techniques for evaluating competition, which sites Google put on page one for your keywords, and which ones to stay away from, you can very quickly develop a strategy to dominate the entire front page of Google with your websites, blogs, articles, videos, and pdf's.
