Setting Goals Will Lead to Success in Network Marketing

Are you joining the ranks of those that are have realized that in order to fire their boss, have more time to enjoy the things/people in life that matter and to get out of the financial challenges created by having a limiting job?

Have you been looking into the benefits of Network Marketing and having your own Home Based Business?

If so, the MOST important thing that you can do is to begin setting both personal and business goals. You can NOT succeed without taking this simple yet VERY effective step. Yes, I said simple. The reason that I am going to go so far as to classify this step as simple is because if you choose to not take this important step everything else becomes an exercise in futility.

Look at the most successful people you know that make massive incomes, have incredible success and/or seem to have it all together. You will find that they all have one thing in common – they all set GOALS. The Robert Kiyosaki’s, Donald Trump’s, Michael Jordon’s of the world all set goals. As you can see from these few examples goal setting techniques are used by professional athletes and the most successful business people. Goals help you define your long term vision and help you maintain your motivation. They help you maintain focus, help you to organize/manage your time and ensure that you get the very most out of your life.

As a very good friend once told me, a very effect way of creating goals that are more powerful is to use the SMART mnemonic. You will find several variations, but they will all be similar to the following:

- Specific
- Measurable
- Action Oriented
- Realistic
- Time-bound

Beyond this make sure that your goals are WRITTEN down and REVIEWED on a regular basis. You can have the best Network Marketing Opportunity in the world, but if you want to maximize your success you will want to get started on your goals today. More importantly once you have written you goals down with the associated actions steps required to attain those goals, you will want to periodically review them to ensure that you are on track toward success.

As I alluded to at the start of this topic goals are not reserved to simply ensuring your success in your home based business. Goals are a very applicable part of your personal life as well. Think about goals as a target. If you have not defined your target how do you ever expect to hit the target. Goals are the ultimate form of planning and as you will see in multiple places: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

One of the many things that I learned in the process of reading “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” was that we should begin with the end in mind. Keeping this in mind as you begin to set your goals start big and set your lifetime goals. From that point you will find many suggestions, but start setting 10 or 20 year goals and then gradually break those goals down to 6 month, 3 month and monthly goals. As you can see each of the progressively smaller goals are in support of helping you achieve your lifetime goals.

Finally, begin to create a daily to-do list tasks that you should work on today in working towards your lifetime goals.

Likewise define where you want to go in your Network Marketing business and work back from that point. To start with your goals may be to read books, meet with other successful entrepreneurs in your business, find a mentor that has experience and success in the MLM industry, listen to CDs/MP3s on all of the characteristics you need to succeed, you fill in the remainder……

One thing that is often overlooked in this process is that when you attain one of your goals, take time to celebrate! You have worked hard to get this goal accomplished take time to enjoy it. Much too often people in pursuit of their dreams forget to enjoy the small successes along the way and as such they burn themselves out, forget why they ever started this business and ultimately lose their motivation to continue. So, take time to CELEBRATE your successes.
