When he came back, he sought after her first love and it turns out that she has remained faithful to him and stayed single, waiting for his return. The Claddagh ring symbolizes several stages of a relationship between two couples. Its three main symbols are the crown, which is on top of a heart, and two hands clasping the heart. The crown represents loyalty. The heart represents love. The two hands represent friendship. Overall, the design of the Claddagh ring follows the development of the love between couples. The first stage being friendship, which all couples experience. The second stage is that of engagement, and the third is ultimately marriage.
