Having a new baby can be a very joyous occasion but at times it can be very overwhelming. Most people have a baby shower a couple months before the baby is scheduled to arrive. After the baby shower it can be very overwhelming to figure out what to do with the amount of baby gifts that you have received. There are some great ways to organize yourself so you know what you have and what you still might need.

Many people will receive many clothing items that will range from newborn sizes to maybe 12 month or older clothing. It is important to organize the clothing according to size and then by how it will be used. For instance if there are items that are more for dressing up make sure they are hung up as opposed to folded in a drawer so they stay nice up until the time they can be worn. Many people will send or give practical items such as one piece items or little socks that can be used on a daily basis. It is important to make sure that you do not have any items that are doubles. If so make sure you can return them for store credit or to make another purchase at the time of return.

Big ticket items can also be given as baby shower gifts, such as strollers, cribs, car seats, play pens etc. Many people will have registered for these items but make sure before you start putting them together, decide whether they are the style you really want. Go over each of the manuals before you have the baby so you know how to properly and safely use these items in helping to care for your new baby. It is especially important that you know how to set up the car seat and properly install that in the car so it is ready to bring the baby home in from the hospital.

It is also very important to get your diaper bag ready and organized. Some people will have one go-to bag that they will use for everything. Others might have a bigger bag and smaller bag depending on where they are going. Its important to have any bag that you are using organized with the essential items that you will need for your baby. The diaper bag should be stocked with, diapers, wipes, diaper crème, changes of clothes, bottles, snacks, etc. Once the diaper bag is very organized you will know that you have all of the items you will need to care for your baby when you are away from your house. It’s a good idea to have this ready before the baby is born because afterwards it might be too overwhelming and you may forget things.

Being well prepared and organized before your baby comes is key to things going smoothly in the beginning. Remember there will always be bumps in the road and unexpected things will happen but as long as you are as prepared as you can be things will run more smoothly. With some little tweaks here and there you will be more than ready to welcome that beautiful new baby into your life.
