If the cause for your weight loss plateau is simply your metabolism, than the answer should be simple as well. All you have to do is find a way to speed up your metabolism. Though this is easier said than done, there are several ways that you can increase the amount of calories that your body burns, thus making your way out of that weight loss metabolism plateau.

The first way to speed up metabolism is by increasing the amount or the intensity of exercise you perform each day. For example, if your normal exercise routine involves jogging for 20 minutes, then you could increase that to 30 minutes. Or, if you normally lift 10-pound weights at the gym, try lifting 15-pound weights instead. These simple changes can help to jump start your metabolism.

The second key to increasing your metabolism might sound funny: eat. The truth is, however, that many dieters inadvertently slow down their metabolism by not eating enough. It is very important to intake a healthy amount of calories every day. Also, make sure to eat frequent meals. Never skip breakfast—this is a major culprit of a slow metabolism.

Mysterious Metabolism

Your metabolism is one of those bodily functions that is difficult to predict and hard to control. Yet, if you are looking to increase your metabolism, all it takes is two easy steps. You’ll be out of that weight loss metabolism plateau before you know it!

What To Do When You Hit A Weight Loss Metabolism Plateau

There is no bigger frustration to a dieter than to reach a weight loss metabolism plateau, a time when the scale no longer falls and all weight loss stops. It is a common fact that every dieter will at some point reach a weight loss metabolism plateau during the time of his or her weight loss efforts.

There are many causes of this exasperating situation and many different ways to combat the body and get the metabolism kick started again. The important thing when evaluating a weight loss metabolism plateau is to determine which response best suits the needs of your body and will provide the fastest solution to your personal plateau issues.

Defining Metabolism Helps to Identify A Solution

First, Consider that the metabolism is the rate at which the body burns calories. Three different things and important factors determine the rate in which your body burns fat, the rate of your metabolism.

The first item that determines the rate is which your body burns calories is the amount of energy used by your body cells and organs just to maintain their daily functions.

The second component involved with the speed of your metabolism is the amount of exercise or physical activity that your body participates in on a daily basis.

The smallest influence on your metabolism is the calories that are burned while digesting and absorbing food.

As the energy-burning source for your body, it is the rate of your metabolism that affects the amount and speed of weight lost.

Increased Physical Activity Can Break The Metabolic Weight Loss Plateau

If you are already physically active and have begun to experience a weight loss metabolism plateau, it is important to evaluate your current workout program. Changing the routine is a very effective weight to eliminate the metabolic weight loss plateau. Using weights while walking, switching from an aerobic program to a circuit training program or increasing the number of sets per exercise will each help to increase the body’s metabolism and defeat the weight loss metabolism plateau.

Building Muscle Mass Will Fight The Weight Loss Metabolism Plateau

Building muscle mass is the secret to a faster metabolism, as muscle burns more calories that fat. It is a proven fact that muscle actually burns 90 percent more calories than fat. Simply adding small weights into your daily workout, you will increase overall muscle mass in your body and your metabolic rate will increase. It is as easy as lifting small weights while watching television, this small additional activity two or three times a week can increase your metabolic rate. An addition of three to five pounds of muscle to your body weight can result in an increase of 100-250 additional calories burned each day. This one step can mean a world of difference in your battle against the weight loss metabolism plateau. If you currently lift weights and have reached a weight loss metabolism plateau, slightly increase the amount of weights lifted and you will experience a break through in your metabolic weight loss plateau.
