Taking a specialty will help you focus on the things that you are really interested in (whether it is pediatrics, psychiatry, neurology, oncology, research and so on) and dump the mundane tasks you have to do day in and day out in your job as a staff nurse. Going back to school can also be a refreshing change and give you the boost you need for a second run on your career as a nurse.

Considering travel nursing

If you want to experience new places and people, the best path is to get into travel nursing. In travel nursing, you will be assigned in different states on a short-term basis for every assignment. This means that you get to visit new places and meet new people every time. What can be more exciting than that?

Taking less stressful jobs

If you are assigned in the ICU and emergency room and can no longer stand the pressure, you don't have to quit all-together. You can simply take on a nursing job that is less stressful. Why not consider being a school nurse or a nurse in a retirement home? Dealing with kids or with elderly people can be more relaxing and give you the meaning you have been craving for so long.
