Even though a company may be doing everything right, sometimes rumors can be devastating to company’s reputation - even when the rumors prove later to be wrong. PR professionals at such times ensure that their client’s perspective is also heard.

For instance, if a big hotel has been accused of selling alcohol to minors, even though this is only a rumor and the hotel is proven later to be innocent, the hatred of a handful of people still continues to affect the hotel’s reputation. PR professionals make sure that no such thing happens, and that a small rumor will not grow into a widespread problem in future. At times, it is possible that the company is actually guilty of something that has created havoc amongst the population. During that time, the job of PR crisis management professionals is to minimize the damage as much as possible.
