You made a mistake and now you want to get back together with your ex. Are you sure you want to try again? Is there anything that makes you think things are going to be different this time? Has there a point when you thought things were going just fine? Well, obviously that was not the case!

Here are a few questions you have to think about:

* What happened before?
* Were you too late to react when something started going wrong, or where you blind to the problems?
* Now, you have to think about it. What caused it?
* Where you the one to that caused things to fall apart or was it something you both did?
* Is there anything you could have done to stop all this?
* Is it even possible that you knew what were causing the breakup yet you did not get around to doing anything about it?

These are only a few of the questions you have to think about.

1. Find out what went wrong:

I think the following quote, attributed to Albert Einstein, has a message for all of us: "insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." If you want to get back together with ex, you have to take this message to heart. You have to do things different this time.

It is no use going into a reconciliation attempt pretending nothing happened. It is not going to work! You cannot simply go in and try to pick up where you left. If you do this, nothing has changed. If you do not address the problems that ended your relationship or marriage, things are going to work out the same way again. Nothing will change and in a short while you will be apart again.

2. Sort out your own problems first:

The problems you had before the breakup will have to be fixed. Only then you can work on how to get back together again with ex. So, whatever you had a problem with, fix it. Address your own situation first, get counseling or therapy if you have to, but sort it our. This is the first thing you have to do.

3. Make sure your ex addressed his or her problems:

Now it is time to move on to the other person's issues. It may be that the other person had issues that maid the relationship end. Make sure he or she has taken the necessary steps to resolve and fix these issues. It is useless to try and get back together with ex if these issues are still there. You will then have to deal with it all over again. I'm sure, with the same disastrous results.

4. Get relationship counseling:

No, it is time to address the issues you two had together that tore you apart. Try and work things out, get relationship counseling if you have to, just do it! If you simply jump back into the same things, you will just want to jump back out again in a short while. You cannot run from your problems, you have to sort them out.

5. Do you really love the other person?

Think why you want to get back together with ex? Do you really love each other? Are you sure you want to stay together for ever? If so, you have to fix things otherwise you will both just end up messing things up again. If the issues that tore you apart are not fixed, the cycle will repeat itself and you will end up with a broken heart once again!

So, save yourself future heartbreak, fix the issues. Now you can get back together with ex again and stay in a happy relationship for ever.
