Texas weather varies because of the large size of the state. Texas is certainly not an area where the weather continuously stays the same all the time, and depending on the specific area in Texas it may be that you are located in or plan to visit, location will play a large factor into the general type of weather that you can expect to experience while you are there. Most of the southwestern areas of the state are generally found to be much drier than the northwestern areas, these of which are usually humid. Then, most of the other areas tend to vary somewhat from being both dry at times, and more humid at others.

Texas weather is very dry in some areas, and moist and humid in others. In the areas that are more humid you can expect to find quite a bit more rain than in the drier areas of the state. For instance, northwestern parts of the state can receive as much and sometimes even more than 50 inches of rain in a year’s time, whereas many of the western and northern parts only receive somewhere between 15 and 30 inches of rain in a years time.

Texas weather can be dangerous at times. Flooding is also a problem that many residents of the state have to deal with, especially during the seasons that bring in tropical storms. This is a fact that is true for a large amount of individuals that live on the gulf who often experience the frustrations and the fear that is commonly associated with enduring the hurricanes that are so common in hitting several areas that are along the coast. Numerous tornadoes can also be a very frightening occurrence in this state and it is most definitely another touch of nature that Texas is common for experiencing. There are various statistics that can be found that even show this state to be one that endures many more tornadoes than any of the other states.

The coldest recorded temperature was –23 degrees and it first occurred in the year of 1899 in an area known as Tulia, Texas. On the flipside of that the hottest recorded temperature was 120 and the first time it occurred was in a town called Seymour in the year of 1936.

The amount of sunshine also depends on which part of Texas you are talking about. One of the sunniest parts of this beautiful state is by many considered to be El Paso and on average it enjoys 83 percent of its days annually to be very sunny and enjoyable. The city that is known to have the least amount of days annually that is sunny would be Houston, and it only has 57 percent of sunny days to enjoy.

Texas weather is certainly widely known by its residents to have a large number of days that can be expected to produce numerous thunderstorms. With this in mind, the residents that live in the town called Brownsville usually expect around 26 days a year where the havoc of thunderstorms can be experienced. The residents that live in the town of Port Arthur are ones who receive the largest amount of days where thunderstorms occur, which can reach as many as 67 days a year.
