Team building is not only applicable to professionals in the workplace. It can also be applied to children in order to assist them in working together as a team. Using team building for kids is a great way to instill positive qualities that they will be able to carry with them through life. Ice breakers are essential for groups of new kids that do not yet know one another. It can really help them to open up and get to know one another. Using ice breaking games with children will help them to open up to one another and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Use games that are age appropriate to get kids interacting with one another. A game of follow the leader is great for having each child take a turn leading the rest. Not only does it teach about leading, it also teaches about following, which is something that does not always come natural to everyone. A game of Twenty Questions is ideal for getting children to share some of their likes and dislikes which can help them bond over common interests. Games should be geared toward having children work in teams, relying on one another for the desired outcome which they all must work together for.

Problem solving games and activities are necessary for kids. It allows them to work through things like analyzing a situation in order to determine what is wrong with it. When you have a group of kids working together on a problem, the ideas and solutions will be creative and never ending. A group can encourage and inspire one another which is what children need in a team environment.

There are many different fun types of name games that kids can play to help them remember everyone else’s name. This can be done by rhyming or creating funny slogans or sayings out of the letters of someone’s name. There are several different ways games can be made from names. Check online for additional ideas since there are many great ice breaker games for kids to be found.

Get all of the kids to sit in a circle and think of three things about themselves that they wish to share with the others. They can be given a specific topic idea like movies, games or colors. But it may be best to leave it up to their imagination to fill in the blanks. Sharing gets kids talking and conversing about the things they love. Friendship among team members of any kind isn’t necessary but it certainly does make the process a lot more pleasant.

Creating a team atmosphere requires that the children are involved in something they all take part in. Have them read the same story and then share how they felt about it. Giving their opinion and feeling on a certain shared task allows them to feel like their thoughts really matter. There are many great ice breakers that work wonderfully for kids. Get kids working together in a team setting so they can receive the benefits of sharing a goal.
