When booking your airplane tickets, there are a few options available to you. These tips will provide you with all the different options for purchasing airline tickets.

Step 1:
Travel agents are a great option. Travel agents can help you get tickets, no matter what your destination. You can just call or visit a travel agent in your area to find out information about the vacation you want. Choose the flight date of arrival and departure, how many connections there are and baggage allowance. You should look into the differences if you want to fly on the cheap, or if you want to go business class and look into your meal options. Let you booking agent know which air company you prefer so that a seat can be reserved. Then just pay and the agent will finish the job.

Step 2:
Sign up with a website dedicated to travel. An additional, easy-to-use method to book airline tickets is to use travel websites. Websites like http://www.cheaptickets.com/ or http://www.expedia.com/ can book flights for you. Fill in the details of the flight you need to take, including your departure, arrival airport and duration of your stay. You'll be able to choose from different flights that were selected to meet your requirements.
Choose a flight that meets your budget and travel needs (few layovers, least travel time, and so on). Follow the directions on the travel website by providing information it requests and in a few minutes, you'll have a successful booking. After you give your payment details out, you get a flight confirmation. Make sure you make a copy of your flight receipt for your records so you won't have any trouble when you arrive at the airport. If you feel uncertain about using online travel sites to book airline travel, you can call the airline provider afterwards with the details and ascertain that your flight is correct.

Step 3:
Go direct to the airline. Many do not even consider the option of purchasing from the airline online, instead going through the middle man. Airplane tickets can be purchased direct from the airline. Check out the airline's website - (American Airlines is http://www.aa.com/, Southwest Airlines is http://www.southwest.com/). Go to the flight booking section and complete the required details. You'll get to choose from several flights and you can even earn points for booking a flight direct. (This means you may get free air travel in the future).

Step 4:
Make a phone call to the booking department of the airline. You can also phone the airline directly to make your flight reservations. Contact customer service at your chosen airline and ask to book a flight. Like the online websites, you'll be asked about your preferred dates and airports, then you'll be offered a price. Be aware that booking by telephone may result in additional charges, airlines consider this a booking fee.

Take your time making travel plans and consider all the choices including going to an agent or any of the major online services available. Travel agents, customer service people and online sites can all help you to make air flight bookings.
