There is so much doom and gloom in almost any circle in which you find yourself that it is maddening. It causes one to wonder why people even bother to get up in the morning. The real culprit is that we have allowed ourselves to get caught up in the negative and we have forgotten that there is still a lot of good that is happening and will continue in spite of the economic times in which we find ourselves.

So, we ask “is the glass half empty or half full?” There are things that are true which remain unaffected by market conditions which will help propel you to success if you use them. They are like tools that need to be taken off of the shelf and put to good use. Here, then are some good reasons to be positive and up-beat about your business.

Free market system still works. As long as our economic system is based on a free enterprise model, there will be opportunities from which a business can exploit and earn a profit. Yes, socialism tends to clog the wheels of free market functionality, but as long as it is still able to move and breath, the American business can and will lead the way to customer satisfaction and ultimately a positive balance sheet.

Shun the negative. There are so many places from which one hears negative reasons to stop excelling and just let business die that it is almost unbelievable. However, the heart of a true entrepreneur is not crushed by it.

Look for opportunities. Watch for opportunities to profit from changes and shifts in market attitudes. This might mean marketing your business in a different way or marketing to a different target audience. But, if you do not, then you can miss out on a chance to move your business ahead.

Grow your business. Growth is something that there is not a lot of talk about right now, but it is a valid concept. The first growth area must be in finding ways to increase profitability through a combination of frugalness and changes in operations.

Enter a re-evaluation of your phone and communications system. Now, more than ever it is time to put a cost effective, powerful toll-free 800 number and related PBX system in place in your business. Very simply: it works and it is very inexpensive.

The cost is based upon call volume in part. The PBX system is a one-time set up with the ability to grow with you as your business grows. And, grow it will because businesses that institute a toll-free number report that their business increases around 15% because of it.

Perform at a high level. Once you have everything in place that will help you be successful, you need to look at your overall performance. Make it a priority to be as productive and responsive to your customers needs as possible.

Remember that there are still reasons to be in business and making money. These attitudes can and will get your through these times and out the other side so that you are even better than before.
