In today’s multi media culture when you are never more than a foot away from a computer, iPod, mobile phone, blackberry, TV or radio, it would be fair to assume, that the opportunities to create an income stream of some kind would be enormous.

After all, with all this information at our fingertips, it’s the ideal place to market our products and services. And with a little creativity and hard work, we should all be able to tap into this goldmine at will.

I’m sure by now everyone has heard of Google adsense, in fact you can’t visit a website these days, without seeing some kind of Google advert splashed all over the pages, you will even find them on this website. That’s because they work, they make money. So if you are prepared to put in the hours and learn how the Adsense machine operates, you will have a good solid start to your money making business.

What is adsense?

Google Adsense is possibly one of the easiest and quickest ways to generate a regular source of income, if your have a website or write articles. In a nutshell, Google adds are placed in various areas of your website. These ads can be in a text or image format, and are generated automatically based on the webpage content.

Then when someone visits your website and clicks on one of the ads, you are paid a percentage of the add cost. This is called PPC (paid per click)

Can you imagine being paid, just for someone clicking an advert on your website? That is exactly how Adsense works and it’s a sure fire way to earn regular money on the internet. But as I mentioned before you need to put in the time and effort to understand how Google Adsense works, you can then generate a large amount of money. I know of some internet marketers who earn a full time income based solely on Google Adsense.

On some occasions, I myself have been paid over $2 for a single click, and you can earn a lot more that that. So if you look at this logically in its simplest form, all you need to do is generate a regular flow of traffic to your website, and then get the visitors to click on the Google adds. It will help you greatly if you can keep this simple format, embedded in your mind at all times.

Although it does require a certain level of understanding, if you get too technical you will miss the point completely. The basic format is this: rather then selling your own product or service, you sell someone else’s. You can do this in a number of ways, but today I want to concentrate on affiliate links, which is a bit like Adsense, but this time rather than getting paid per click, you get paid be lead or per sale. You can also get paid per impressions, which has been covered in previous articles.

Firstly, find a reputable affiliate partner. Your affiliate partner should provided you with a number of different marketing tools, like text adds, banner adds, article and email content. You will also receive your own original affiliate link code.

This code is embedded in all your marketing products. Then when any sales or leads are generate via your affiliate link, your code will automatically be tracked. Your affiliate partner then knows how much commission you have made.

With paid per sale, you are paid a commission by your affiliate partner, when a sale is made through your affiliate link. With paid per lead, you are paid a commission by your affiliate partner, when someone gives out certain information about themselves. This could be an email address, a phone number or a home address. They could also be asked to complete some kind of survey or questionnaire.

So why would your affiliate partner pay you for someone’s contact details? Well, these details are used as leads to generate sales and future communication. It’s basically down to market research.

You could be forgiven for thinking that all you have to do, is create a few websites, add a number of adsense and affiliate links and hey presto, your in the money. Well, it’s not quite that simple. You will still have to do your research and put in the time and effort, but you can generate serious amounts of income.

Mention the word eBay and just like MacDonald’s or Amazon everyone knows who you mean. Did you know there are over 220 million eBay members worldwide and it’s getting bigger every day. That is a staggering number by anyone standards. Because of the sheer size of eBay the opportunities for making money is mind blowing.

I started using eBay some years ago. At the time, I was running my off line company, which was a food and wine gift hamper business. We supplied luxury food and wine hampers to the corporate and private sector and delivered worldwide. I opened an eBay shop selling non alcoholic hampers, as we were not allowed to sell alcohol. It wasn’t so much the amount of sales we could generate that initially attracted me to eBay, it was more the sheer amount of people you could reach and market your business to.

That was my first taste of eBay and it was a real eye opener. There isn’t a quicker and more effective way on the internet today, that gets your products and services noticed, which in turn will create a regular flow of traffic, orders and income.
