How to Lose Weight? Eat a Lot and it Will Happen

I think this is the craziest thing I have ever heard: "How To Lose Weight?" "Eat a lot and it will happen!" It goes against the grain of everything we think we know. All of us have been programmed to believe we have to starve ourselves half to death if we want to lose weight. Well, I have good news for you; it need not be that way.

When you are thinking of how to lose weight, eat the right kinds of food, in the right proportions and the fat will melt away! It is important to understand that food is not the enemy here, but how we eat and prepare it. If food is prepared in such a way that you do not add extra calories during the cooking process, you can eat more without stopping the pounds to fall off.

Things you have to keeping mind if you want to shed those pounds without starving:

1. You have to unfortunately cut down on carbs. Eat only whole grains as far as possible and remember things like potatoes, sweet potatoes and peas count as starch. Do not eat more than five small portions of starches a day, including rice, pasta, cous-cous or any other starch you normally have with your meals.

2. Now we get to your friends, veggies. Veggies really are a slimmer's best friend. You can eat almost unlimited quantities of most vegetables. Make very sure you do not add calories with your cooking methods. Here are some of the vegetables you can concentrate on:

Brinjals, broccoli, carrots, green beans, kale, leeks, onions, squash, tomatoes, asparagus, cauliflower, baby marrow, sweet peppers, mange tout, mushrooms, okra, cabbage, spinach, celery, cucumber, endives, garden cress, garlic, radishes, turnips and lettuce.

3. When eating fruit, you have to keep in mind that although fruit is very healthy, many contains a lot of sugar and are very high in calories. For this reason you have to limit your fruit to no more than three small portions a day. Once you have reached your goal you can start eating more fruit. Here are some of the fruits you can concentrate on:

Apples, blueberries, cantaloupes, cranberries, grapefruit, lemons, papayas, pineapples, prunes, raspberries, strawberries and tangerines, a note of warning, bananas can really ruin a weight loss program. Eat no more than one small banana a day.

4. When choosing your proteins concentrate on low fat chicken, fish and legumes. It is very important that you do not eat too little protein when you are trying to lose weight. Eat at least three small portions of protein a day. Keep in mind that legumes can count as a starch portions or a proteins portions. Legumes are very low in fat, has a lot of fiber that helps with the elimination of fat and it is therefore a very good choice. Keep in mind for your body to be able to use the protein in legumes; you always have to combine it with a starch.

5. The next step in how to lose weight, eat only low fat and fat free dairy products. Keep it to no more than two portions a day and remember the milk you take in your coffee!

6. Cut down on all fat as far as possible. Eat no more than two small potions of fat a day. Keep in mind that you cannot cut out fat completely as your body needs the fat to be able to absorb the fat soluble vitamins.

So, this is the answer to how to lose weight. Eat the right food, at least six small meals a day and without starving the fat will melt away.
