Let’s face it, your child needs a mobile phone. It will be easier for you to keep in touch with them. You will feel more confident every time they go out at night since you can easily call or send them a text message. When they go to college, both of you will never really feel so homesick.

But what kind of mobile phone should you give to your children? Here are some of the best choices:

Verizon Migo

This mobile phone is very child friendly. For one, it’s one of the phones that you can give away for your little boys and girls who are five years old. There are only very few buttons to press—just five of them—and you can program one for speed dial in cases of emergency. You also don’t have to program the mobile phone through it. You can simply make use of the handset or the Internet.

Unlike other mobile phones, Verizon Migo will first ask your child a question before they can really make a call. This way, he or she is sure that he or she is calling the right person. For example, if he presses 1, a question will reflect on the screen. He can cancel the call if it’s not the right one.

You also have an option to use the Chaperon Service. It allows parents to track the movements of the mobile phone on real time. The parent can utilize a PC or a headset. With a minimal amount, the mom or dad can set up areas where the mobile phone is allowed to roam without any problem. However, once the owner of the phone decides to leave the boundaries, a message will then be sent to the parent, informing him or her of the situation.

Tictalk

This doesn’t look like an ordinary phone. For one, it is not shaped like the usual mobile phone. Rather, it resembles a stopwatch. It also doesn’t have any button but a switch. For your child to choose the number that he or she is going to call, he simply need to scroll through the numbers found in the mobile phone; then or she can push the number and place a call. It is also loaded with a lot of educational games for your kids, enough to entertain your 6-year-olds while waiting for their nannies or moms to pick them up from school.

Parents can still have more control over the mobile phone, and they don’t have to tinker the phone to make the changes. They can utilize the Internet to adjust the settings of their parental controls as well as to add and edit the numbers. You can also block calls and schedule the best times for someone to call your children.

Motorola C261

This one is ideal for the older ones, such as the teens and those who are already going to college. A lot of people believe that this phone is costly, but the truth is it’s not. It’s affordable for parents, who could also be burdened by the tuition fees of their children. It comes with a VGA camera, which allows your kids to update you of their lives away from home. They can also set up instant messaging, so they can leave you offline messages when you’re not in your PC or laptop or can talk to you when you are. It also has a very long talk time of more than 400 minutes. The phone can also be helpful to them, as they can do their research through its built-in Internet browser.

Motorola W370

If you loved the Motorola Razr, there’s no reason that you won’t like this. Moreover, it’s very compact, so it can be tucked in the purses as well as in the pockets of your children. They also would not be ashamed to carry it around as it looks very trendy. Unlike the above-mentioned Motorola, this one doesn’t come with camera and have very limited features. This is ideal, though, as your child doesn’t really need much for his mobile phone. It will also take a long time before it loses its battery life. With complete charging, the mobile phone can last for more than 2 weeks.
