It’s amazing the things you learn when you start a blog. When I started writing about in reviewing a all kinds of natural health care products and supplements, I’ve been shocked at how many people are interested in, and want to know more about, colon cleansing.

At this point I’m pretty much convinced that the guy who kicked all of this surge in interest off is the man Oprah likes to refer to as “America’s favorite doctor.” I’m sure you know who I’m talking about, but just in case you don’t, that doctor is of course none other than the famous Dr. Oz.

In case you missed the show, Dr. Oz really let the cat out of the bag when he revealed all of the incredible health benefits that can calm from a regular and effective colon cleansing.

Far be it from me to disagree with what Dr. Oz had to say on the show, but the one bone that I do have to pick with them is that I think he waited a little bit too long before he started pushing this idea on the general public.

I mean if you’ve been paying attention to this movement -- no pun intended -- for any length of time, you’re well aware that people who have been doing home colon cleansings for any length of time have been singing the praises of the practice for years.

It’s not hard to see why. People talk about almost instantaneous weight-loss, dramatic drops in cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and a host of other benefits that people who have never done a home colon cleanse would probably think are impossible.

The only downside that people bring up with doing a colon cleansing at home is that you have to choose a quality colon cleanser if you want to experience the benefits. Yes, I’m definitely aware that there are more than a few homemade colon cleansing recipes out there. You’ve probably come across more than one on the Internet already.

But I’m not sure that these folk remedies are as effective as some of the dedicated natural colon cleansing products that are out on the market today.

We’re going to talk about those in the second -- I looked at a bunch of them, and I think that I’ve been able to find a couple that have amazing deals -- so stay tuned for that.

First however, I just wanted to talk about how you can evaluate home colon cleansing products yourself, so that you know what to look for. Let’s take just the most basic thing that I always look for when evaluating a home colon cleanse product.

Without a doubt, I need to see a free trial. I think that this is probably the most important thing to look for. And here’s the reason why. Because colon cleansing has become so popular, a lot of companies they really have no business being in this market are producing products that are not as effective as they should be.

The proof is in the pudding as they say. So you can reasonably expect that when a company is so confident in their product that they’re willing to give it to you for free, that they have nothing to hide and know that once you experience it, you’re going to want to come back for more.

That’s such a basic and easy test to pass, that I think it says volumes that more companies don’t offer this kind of trial.
