Maryland is a state visited by many for many reasons. From the rich history and cultural activities to the many different types of bodies of water to spectacular and diverse scenery that can be found throughout the state, there are too many reason to list as to why you should take your next vacation in the exciting state of Maryland. Many, many couples, families, and friends come here every year to get a taste of all that the state has to offer to its visitors. There is so much to do here that the only problem you’ll have regarding your activities will be deciding what to do first and how soon you can return for another exciting vacation getaway.

One of the most common reasons for vacationers coming to the state of Maryland is the spectacular scenery throughout. From saltwater to swamp water to fresh water there is variety of marine life, and scenery for all of the diverse visitors to enjoy. Whether you and your family and/or friends enjoy fishing, boating, whale watching, seaside dining, or beaching you will surely find something to do. One of the most visited bodies of water in the state is the famed Chesapeake Bay. Here is the largest area in the country where saltwater meets freshwater and the estuary is a prime spot for viewing all kinds of fascinating marine life. With saltwater from the Atlantic Ocean and freshwater from the area rivers there is no telling what might pop up to surprise and delight you and your fellow vacationers. And for the true nature and animal lovers there is the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge where visitors come every year to get a glimpse of nature untouched by human hands. The Allegheny Mountains offer a more secluded and peaceful side of nature for those visitors wishing to sit back and relax and leave all of the excitement of the city back home. Here you can fish, swim, or just sit back and listen to the wonderful sounds that only nature can provide.

For the visitors looking for exciting cultural activities, a booming nightlife, and fabulous dining there are two major cities where numerous activities and venues can be found. Both Baltimore and the state’s capital Annapolis have much to offer in the way of sightseeing. From the Oriole Park at Camden Yards to the industrial looking areas used in a number of films in the past to the Maryland State House where the Treaty of Paris was signed ending the Revolutionary War there is much to see throughout the state and the states two major cities. Visit the fort in which the Star Spangled Banner was born, the plantation at which Underground Railroad rescuer Harriet Tubman was born, or the site of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad where the idea of passenger train service began, whatever kind of culture or history you enjoy you are sure to enjoy experiencing all that there is to experience here in the state of Maryland. You will soon see that one trip just isn’t enough to experience it all.
