Have you ever tought that a Pizza day could help people victim of a strong earthquake?

In Italy it certainly happens.

After 10 days from the shock of living a tremendous earthquake causing over 200 people death and 50% of the houses destroyd in the province of L'Aquila in Italy, an iniciative started from the web came true.

More then 400 pizza chefs joined the Pizza day.

Schools from all over the world has already given their word to join an italian cooking association and prepare pizza for all the people victim of the past 6th of April disaster.

Ready 49 ovens and tons of flour, tomatoes and mozzarella to prepare pizza on the spot.

Due to the sensitivity expressed by many local and international well known companies such as Pizzahut, Fratelli La Bufala, Papajones, among others, Which have are giving logistic and financial support by working and donating money, the initiative is getting more and more media audience therefore support. Hundreds, maybe thousands of euro will be collected to arrange a place in L'Aquila (the area with the heaviest damage) where to distribute free pizza and Cola, for the earthquake victims.

There will be many artists showing their repertory of music, dance, and clowns to delight people, helping them to forget, at least for an hour or two, the significant problems they'll have to face in the near future.

We will also put our best efforts to involve children in the realization process of pizza. A small amateur baby-course, for fun, will be organized, teaching them know the secrets of making a good mixture.

Flower, water and yeast are the simple indredients, but at the end not all it takes to make a great tasting pizza.

An impressive number of pizza chefs has given their availability through the mouth initiated by the users of the forum of well known websites, blogs and members of an active Pizza Club started on Facebook years ago.

Pizza makers also joined in very far countries as Australia, Brazil, Sweden, Spain, France and so on... giving proof of real friendship.

All professionals are ready to close for a few days their own business and employees who will ask for a few days of permission from work to give their own contribution.

Some people will even bring karaoke to brighten the days and time to give some light to those in these days living in tents.

Given the limited availability of housing in tents they are ready to bring their own tent or even sleep in the car.

What to say?

even if this wont really help people to recover theis houses and goods lost, and wont give them money to try and built a new life, if will certainly represent a a moral help, specially in children who are living drammatical moments. I think that things like this can give an imput to a start a new life in a differet way.

God Bless Chefs, who, in my opinion, and not only mine, have a big heart.

Viva la pizza.
