Generally plastic or “wire” (metal) is used to make eyeglass frames for kids. A male child would probably wear something with a double bridge while a female child is more likely to wear something with a single bridge. Children generally like to emulate grown-ups and so might demand glasses like their parents wear.

Even a few years ago, plastic was thought of as the best choice for children’s glasses as they could not break. But nowadays, lots of metal frames for children have overtaken the market. Your might have different reactions to different kinds of metals. Nickel alloys might trigger off a reaction on numerous occasions. So, it is advisable to experiment a bit before settling on any metal wire for your child.

If glasses are an absolute necessity throughout the day then purchasing two pairs of glasses make a lot of a sense.

Sports goggles can be used as a second pair of glasses. Prescription sunglasses are also a good idea. If your eye is problematic, then you will need prescription sunglasses. You might just get a second pair of glasses and let your optician add UV filters and dark tints to the frames. This is good idea as the tint is also removable. So, if there is an immediate need, you might just remove the tint and wear the glasses within the house.
