Dairy products have been one of the best-selling products on the face of the earth. Nothing beats a glass of milk and a cookie for snack. Milk chocolate is always a good gift for valentines. What is a pizza without the mozzarella? And there is nothing that can top a ham and cheese sandwich. With all that said, one can truly say that dairy products have become big aspects of our lives. This is of course with the exemption of those who are lactose intolerant and are medically deprived of the heavenly taste of dairy products lest they wish to suffer the pungent consequences.

Soft Cheese Versus Hard Cheese

Here, we are going to zoom-in on cheese, more specifically on one very important piece of equipment in the making of cheese. But before we truly delve in the matter, a clear distinction has to be made between soft cheese and hard cheese. With regards to how they are made, soft cheese is relatively easier to make considering that you only need the raw materials, a little know-how, and you’re on your way. But in making hard cheese, not only do you need the raw materials, you also need several equipments to have them made considering that the thing that separates them from soft cheese is the application of pressure. This is where the cheese press comes in.

Using a Cheese Press

The cheese press makes sure that the pressure applied is sufficient as it is the key to making sure that the cheese does not spoil immediately. Traditional cheese presses were wood at the start. But people started realizing that wood was highly inefficient as it is really difficult to keep sanitary and it absorbs water which reduces the efficiency of the pressing process. There are several other issues that came up even with the more modern cheese pressers and that is the fact that as the cheese is getting pressed, it tends to either ooze out or slide to the side. This makes it rather impossible to truly press in a very effective way.

People have even started inventing a new cheese press to truly achieve a very good hard cheese that does not spoil easily. Note that this is very important especially for people who are into selling these cheeses and want to make sure that the quality of their produce is at par with their competitors. People also want the cheese that they eat to be sumptuous and delicious.
