Vinyl will never smear or need repainting, however it can seem to fade over time. Also, it is relatively cheap. Newer homes in the Indianapolis real estate market have brick facades made from vinyl, but true brick is desirable due to its never needing to be pained and its extreme durability. Brick is the most expensive siding to have, and proves difficult when trying to fit your home with new pipes or cables, but is considered by many homeowners to be the best type of siding to own.

Depending on the age of your home, you may run into houses that have wooden siding. While elegant and easily painted, wood siding is the worst siding to own. Wood rots , warps and fades easily, and needs painting on a yearly. Also, the Indianapolis real estate market is one that has to deal with insects, and in the summer and autumn months your wood siding will become home to thousands of termites and other wood burrowing insects. Also, wood retains mold easier than any other siding, and can be costly to replace.

A growing trend in the Indianapolis real estate market is to use stucco for your siding, which creates a pueblo look for your home. While a joy to heat and cool, this type of home sometimes comes off as being too eccentric and if chipped is extremely noticeable. Also, many homes with stucco outsides have stucco insides, which can prove to be unattractive to many homeowners.

There are lost of choices available to you when shopping for Indianapolis real estate. Make sure you get a home with an outside you feel comfortable with. Remember, you’re the one who has to live there, so get something you enjoy.
