This section is only meant as a guide to help an experienced tradesperson carry out an installation with assistance. At least two people are required to carry out the installation of the doors, as some parts are heavy. We do not accept any liability for inaccurate or poorly installed doors.

Inspection

Inspect the door set prior to removing your existing door to ensure: Your new door is the correct size and opening (left/right & In or Out) Locks & keys function correctly Check for any damage to the door or accessories that could have happened in transit (Defects or damages must be reported within 3 days and prior to installation of the door) Remove packaging and outer frame film protection Remove existing door set Remove existing door set Prepare opening Ensure door aperture is in good condition, repairing any loose brickwork prior to installation. Clean and remove any old silicone from surrounding area Check existing cill for level and repair as necessary with a bed of mortar.

Installation

Cut new cill to size and glue cill end caps to either end of cill. Cill should then be set on a good bed of mastic and check for level. (Use packers to level as required) Lift your new door into the opening. (Do NOT remove door leaf from frame, install as one) Open the door leaf to 90 degrees and support. The door set MUST be installed level and square to ensure it functions correctly. Wedge the door frame into the opening in a square and level position. The frame fixings should be no more than 150mm from the top and bottom and no more than 600mm centres apart going down the door. (A,B,C & D) Use Fischer fixings or other suitable masonry screws to secure the outer frame.

Check for level every time a fixing is fitted. Ensure the frame is packed behind each fixing and do NOT over tighten the fixing which could distort the outer frame and leave a different gap along the door leaf and cause problems with the door operation.(Do NOT follow existing plaster lines or other marks as they may not be level & square) Once the hinge side is fixed, pull the door leaf to (ensure you have the keys) and check the gap between the frame and leaf are equal all the way down then wedge the frame into position.

Now fix the lock side of the outer frame to the aperture in the positions as shown in the diagram (E,F,G & H), checking after each fixing that the door leaf opens and closes into the frame correctly and ensure the door leaf fits flush with the outer frame. Do NOT fix through the cill of the door. Once the door is fixed into position and opens and closes correctly you can then seal the gaps between the frame and walls with mastic or expanding foam, and then cover with trims as necessary. It may be necessary to adjust the door locks which have adjustable keeps. This can be done once the door is installed by loosening the screws on the outer frame and moving the keeps.

Cleaning

No solvents or abrasive liquids should be used to clean the door. Warm soapy water should be sufficient to keep the door in pristine condition.
