Buying Mothers Day flowers and baskets or any other gifts for your mother should be important, if you want to show her love and appreciation. It is true that since Mother’s Day has been celebrated, it has grown to a huge business, where more flowers and other gifts are sold than the rest of any other day of the year. We have been bombarded by ads to spend our money for Mother’s Day! Should we declare our independence and abstain? Let’s see… The truth is that Moms love to get flowers and baskets for Mothers Day, or for any occasion, even though they may pretend they do not care! Deep down they do care, and get really disappointed if they do not receive anything. My mom used to say to my married sister that she did not need anything for mother’s day, but then she would give flowers to my sister, who is also a mother! So indulge your mother with all the love and affection she deserves, and make sure you get her something that she likes. You wouldn’t want mom to get a basket of jellies if she jars her own or a dozen of roses if she is allergic to them.

Look for online florists or gift shops that allow you to personalize your gift. Some florist offer ribbons where you can personalize your message. Or you can write you own short poem on the back of a picture of both of you. It is not as hard as you think. Just reminisce on a moment you both shared and it is special to only to both of you. Then let your heart talk. You can send your note with flowers, baskets of fruit, or any other gift she may enjoy, like a spa basket with lotions to pumper herself. Although moms love getting flowers, try any gift basket. After enjoying the contents, she will be able to use the basket forever.

Some companies offer free chocolates to accompany the flowers. Sure would be a great treat for her on her special day, if she can have them! So look for a site that has added extras, or sites that offer great deals allowing you to purchase a better gift for mom since you will be saving money.

Be sure to choose a reputable florist, who can deliver in the state she lives. Look for online florist who provides next day delivery for you last minute shoppers. However, it is advisable to order a few days before, to avoid extra expenses and find better deals. Remember, Mothers day is on Sunday May 10, 2009! Don’t get overwhelmed from all the options and varieties of gifts available for Mother’s day. Just get her something you can afford and you think she would like. What is more important to her is the idea that you remembered her! Sometimes just spending some time with our aging parents can mean the whole world to them!
