As more businesses are relocating to the Central Indiana area, the Indianapolis real estate market has become a hot commodity. While the rest of the country is in trouble with real estate, Indiana is expanding not only in real estate, but also in employment. This makes Indianapolis have an active housing market. So where does a person look for a home in Indianapolis and what kind of home do they look for?

Figure out if you’re looking for something that is old or new. There are many new homes in the Indianapolis real estate market. There are homebuilders that used their efforts to build in the areas outside of the I-465 area. These areas have become more appealing as they are not close to the center of town to be considered a suburb. However, they are close enough to the major thoroughfare that goes into Indianapolis.

There are a lot of homes that in the Indianapolis real estate market that are situated along the southeast side, near I-65. These are new housing communities that are still looking for buyers. The nice thing about these new communities is where they are located. They are near where you can get access to go to Bloomington, Indiana and Ohio. There is also plenty of shopping and retail areas near the southeast for the average homeowner to get to.

The north central market of Indianapolis is another place to shop. Due to the school district, the Indianapolis real estate is torn two ways. There are low income housing neighborhoods where the children attend Indianapolis Public Schools. On the other side, there are affluent people that have no children or have children that attend private school in the area. These two sides provide a sharp contrast in the Indianapolis area. There are some homes that are above 56th Street that are more for upscale living. On 38th Street, the housing is more for the college market.

Homeplace, which is north of Indianapolis, is where you will find the office jobs and retail areas. This is a neighborhood that exists in a void where Indianapolis and Carmel exists. A large portion of this neighborhood was included with the tax bracket of Carmel. Some existing buyers in the area were put off by this change. Even with that, the neighborhood still gets benefits from Carmel while paying taxes in Indianapolis. This can be an advantage for those wanting to have the best of both world when looking in the Indianapolis real estate market.

Lawrence Township is a neighborhood in the north end that is growing very rapidly. There is construction of a high school in this area of Indianapolis real estate. There is also a retail area that is expanding in that area of the northwest side.

The Indianapolis real estate market provides plenty of options for those who are looking. Be sure that you find a place that you will feel comfortable with and make sure it’s in your price range. It should be an area that you will want to be in for a long time to come.
