This "funny notion" that exercise might be good for you has been around for quite a while now. It might even catch on. ;)

It's funny too that many seniors play golf for the exercise but that many of them could actually benefit from some simple additional exercises, play better and not risk injury.

And these exercises are not really very hard to do or time consuming.

But, unfortunately, until recently we Seniors haven't got the message. Or maybe we just haven't bought into it. In fact, the most difficult thing about these exercises for senior golfers is getting them to do them.

We all suffer from various small aches and pains in different parts of their bodies. Make sure you always warm up by doing light exercises before your golfing "exercise" so that these minor aches and pains do not become major injuries.

The Best Cure.

Prevention is the best cure when it comes to injuries. Don't let then happen in the first place.

Like it or not, stretching is far and away the best prevention for most goft related injuries, aches and pains.

Light stretching exercises are not only good for seniors but have been known to have a major impact on their scores. Golfers as old as 80 years and older can remain active and competitive by taking just a few minutes to "warm up' before hitting the links.

There are even cases where stretching exercises have eased and even eliminated existing back pains in senior golfers.

What Could Be Easier?

There is so much good that can come of warming up for exercise by stretching.

And stretching exercises are so easy to do, everyone should do them before exerting themselves -- seniors and youngsters, golfers or not.

The pros know this. Watch any profession athlete before a game or round.

If the young and incredibly physically fit stretch before exercise, how much more important must it be for old guys like us. ;)

Golf is More Physically Demanding Than Most of Us Think.

It may not get your heart racing like running or bike riding and you many never need to lift anything heavier than a divot, but golf can be demanding upon your body.

The golf swing is a physically demanding movement using muscles in ways that almost nothing else in life uses them.

When golfers, especially senior golfers, start to realize this and begin to take care of their bodies by doing stretching exercises, they will start to see an impact upon their game and their lives.

One last point --

Don’t Be Afraid to Exercise.

Exercise and physical activity are good for you no matter what your age. Certainly the exercise you choose needs to fit your age and condition -- don't attempt a marathon if you are 70 and have never run a race in your life or attempt to a cross country bike ride as your first "adventure." But do not be afraid to get out and play a bit. Light physical activity will not harm harm most people.

In fact, research has shown that the opposite is true: Exercise is generally safe for people of all ages and older adults often hurt their health far more by not exercising than by exercising.

On our Site, Best Home Courses, we have put together a Totally Free 47-Page Senior Golf Tip Book you can download right now that will give you plenty of good tips and information about Senior Golf, the mental side of the game, exercise, vacation spots, popular golf equipment and more -- all geared specifically to the Senior Golfer.

There's also plenty more books to download and I am busy writing more books for us Seniors -- including ones about gardening, travel and pets. When I can get off the golf course, that is. Hey, I'm retired. ;)
