You have to consider several factors when trying to achieve a modern look for the room. You have to choose the color carefully. Many would go for metallic shades to achieve the modern feel. However, having a metallic room does not provide a homey feeling.

1. Think of the base color of the room. Usually, modern rooms have one neutral color for the entire room. If the wall is white, the owner will paint the ceiling white and will choose a white carpet. This is a pretty good base if you plan to put in more colors for the accessories and furniture. A white room is like a plain canvas. However, if you always play with the neutral colors and the same tone, it can end up boring.

However, you can also look for accessories with curves. This will add a new dimension to the room. Aside from that, you can also add drapes and curtains. You rarely see this in a modern room but this adds softness. You can use fabric with modern patterns to suit the space.

The modern look is clean and simple but this does not mean that it has to be stiff. You can still make it feel inviting by adding pieces that will make you feel comfortable. Start with a plan and do not hesitate to add colors.

You can give your room a modern feel by incorporating some pieces with modern theme. However, these pieces will not pop out if you do not reduce the clutter in your room. For example, you bought a modern canvas wall art. It cannot stand out on your wall if it has a lot of posters. You have to simplify it first, have a plan, and start shopping for the needed items.
