An essential part of integral life is stress. Stress is a natural and vital feeling in our lives because it is the drive that helps most people to succeed. As with many things in life, too much of one thing can be very harmful to a person’s well-being. It seems that everyone is feeling the effects of these hard economic times through increasing pressure and stress. Although some stress is a vital and natural feeling, it can cause many undesired effects on the body and mind.

Too much stress can cause many unwanted physical and emotional demands on the body. It is shown that stress causes the blood vessels to constrict, the blood pressure to elevate, variability in the heart rate and heightened electrical instability in the heart. These things cause the heart to work much harder, and experts say that this puts even more stress on the cardiovascular system as a whole, eventually causing many health problems, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, anxiety and several other serious mental and physical health issues which can eventually lead to death.

It has been shown in a recent study that employees who were stressed out at work had a 68% higher risk of heart disease than those who were not stressed. If you live a life full of stress and anxiety, than you may be at high risk for heart disease. Being able to put stress into perspective along with using stress management techniques can help you to alleviate or improve your stress levels. Some other helpful techniques to help you cope with stress temporarily is exercise, meditation, deep breathing exercises, reading, dancing, laughing, etc.

Some studies have shown that hormone levels have the tendency to increase stress and anxiety levels. Hormones such as cortisol and corticotropin-releasing hormones can help your body by responding to immediate threats. If the stress stays high, instead of easing up, hormone levels increase, leading to an increase in anxiety, which can lead to mood and mental health disorders.

Ages ago, our bodies were equipped with adrenaline in order to protect ourselves against immediate danger, such as a saber-tooth tiger, or any other four-legged dangers. This fight-or-flight mechanism would produce cold sweats, an increase in blood flow, increased heart rate and a general feeling that may feel something like anxiety. These feelings are the body’s way of letting us know that we need to get away immediately as a way of protecting ourselves. Nowadays, the battles that we face are quite different from back then, and the dangers that we face may not have life-threatening consequences, although our bodies tend to react as though they do. This is why we may feel anxious if we are in a position that may be over stressful.

The effects of stress can be overwhelming and can lead to harmful physical effects as well. It is said that about 80% of adults who have a lot of stress, tend to eat more comfort foods, which can lead to being over-weight and obese. This, in turn, can impact the blood pressure, heart and overall vascular health, leading to even more health problems.

If you are under an over-whelming amount of stress in your life, both your physical and mental health may be a big concern for you. Finding ways to cope with your stressors is extremely important. There are several ways to deal with the stress in your life. Some of these things I have already mentioned, but a healthy diet, exercise and dietary supplements can help you to get a firm grip on the stressful things in life. Calming Chronic Stress is a dietary supplement filled with natural herbs and minerals that can be very helpful in helping you deal with depression, anxiety, fatigue, and many other undesired feelings that may result from too much stress.
