Working from home has become a popular option for many. Nowadays, most of us especially females are looking for ways to work from home. There are a number of opportunities available for you to work from home. One option, which is fast becoming popular, is Transcription.

The job of Transcription is to listen to a recording and then pass the information onto the paper or put into writing. The demand for Transcriptionists is growing and is the perfect job for 'work at home' individuals. In medical transcription, a transcriptionist converts the voice-recorded reports of patients, or diagnosis dictated by physicians, into written form. Although software, such as Voice Recognition Software is available, that can transcribe audio information, they are not 100% accurate and give accuracy of about 60%-70% due to the complex medical terminologies. This is why human Transcriptionists are preferred and hence Medical Transcription is a popular business. The basic requirement of the transcription job is to have good typing skills as well as listening capabilities. In case of medical transcription, individual must have a good knowledge of the medical terminologies. Even if you are not familiar with medical terms, you can get training by joining courses that can help you in acquiring the required knowledge and get a start with medical transcription work. Depending on the work, you might be required to take-up advanced courses.

Usually the turnaround time for a transcription is twenty-four hours. At the beginning of the job you may take longer time to transcribe, especially if this is your first time or you are inexperienced, but gradually the speed will increase as you become familiar with the work and medical terminologies.Medical Transcription is lucrative work and you can earn well if you decide to take it up as a career and above all you can work from home. If you are competent, companies will hire you full time and you will be paid as a permanent worker.

One of the greatest benefits of a career in Medical transcription is that you can choose the number of working hours and how much work you can do. Companies allow you to set your schedule and this is an advantage especially for working women who have to look after the home or children and work as well. If you are looking for a transcription job all you need to do is take up courses or training to get into this field and a little searching for the job. It might be hard to find the right one in the beginning, but once you get the right job you will not regret it. Transcription training courses are available for those who want to gain basic knowledge or do specialization in this field.
