A large percentage of the fitness-conscious population wonders whether it is really possible to build muscle and lose fat simultaneously or not. Muscle building programs like Vince Delmonte's ‘No Nonsense Muscle Building’, Sean Nalewanyj's ‘Truth About Building Muscle’, Tom Venuto’s ‘Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle’ or Jason Ferruggia's ‘Muscle Gaining Secrets’ are some of the most wonderful fitness programs, which endorse the fact that it is indeed possible to build muscle and lose fat simultaneously.

In fact, most of fitness fans who visit the gym regularly, do so, not only to melt the excess fat in their body, but also to attain greater flexibility, firmness and a well-toned look. In addition, they are also interested in improving their muscular strength and muscular endurance, and in adding a lot of lean muscle mass to their body. In other words, their basic objective is to build muscle and lose fat simultaneously.

But do you realize that fat burning and muscle building are two contrasting biochemical processes, which have quite contrasting needs? While on one hand, fat burning requires you to consume far lower calories in a day than what you can normally expend, muscle building requires you to take a protein-rich diet, which can supply your body with far greater number of calories, than you can expend in a day. However, it is not impossible to build muscle and lose fat simultaneously. Although it can seem to be a tough task, the right kind of muscle building program, diet and supplementation can help you achieve this objective.

How do You Build Muscle and Burn Fat at the Same Time

In order to be able to build muscle and lose fat simultaneously, you will need to undertake endurance training as well as flexibility training, so that you are able to develop muscular strength and muscular endurance, and at the same time, you are able to add more lean muscle mass to your body. You need to adopt a progressive training technique, which can stimulate the growth of both the fast-twitch fibers, as well as the slow-twitch fibers in your muscles, and which can maintain all the muscles of your body in a continuous state of shock, so that a plateau stage is not arrived at easily. Such a training technique stimulates the muscle fibers in your body to grow bigger and stronger continuously, while putting a check on the unnecessary accumulation of subcutaneous fat. When the muscles in your body begin to grow, they need ample amount of nutrients for growth, repair and replenishment and hence, a protein-rich diet is recommended.

We are well aware of the fact that the muscles in our body are very highly active metabolically and that they tend to accelerate the metabolic rate of our body. This in turn, boosts the burning of fat in our body, as a result of which, the body loses all the unwanted subcutaneous fat and the well-toned muscles get surfaced. Right kind of strength training workouts, ample rest for your muscles, right diet and supplementation are required to achieve fat burning and muscle building. Unless the right kind of diet comprising of adequate levels of proteins (to build bigger muscles) and carbohydrates (to fuel your workouts) is taken, you will not be able to build muscle and lose fat simultaneously.
