Thanks to continuous technological advances and commercial activity, ice dispensers are no longer a luxury for only a selected few. Ice Dispensers are essential to industries that are dedicated in certain fields such as golf courses, resorts, recreation, health-care, grocery, convenience stores, and hotels. Last but not least, there is also the humble home owner whose life sometimes calls for an indoor or outdoor get together.

In a commercial ice making machine or an ice dispenser, ice cubes are formed in the refrigerated system. In this way, layer by layer of water is frozen and clear ice is formed. Unlike freezing all of the water at once, as is with simpler home ice machines, where the result is cloudy ice. After a fixed time, the ice maker triggers a solenoid valve connected to the heat-exchanging coils. Switching the valve changes the path of the refrigerant. The compressor stops forcing the heated gas into the narrow tube and instead, forces the gas into a wide bypass tube. The hot gas is cycled back to the evaporator without condensing.

This causes the pipes and ice tray to become warm and the ice cubes to loosen. The individual cube wells are slanted, so the loosened cubes will slide out on their own into a collection bin below. Some models have a cylinder piston that gives the tray a little push and thus knocks the cubes loose. This system is very popular in large restaurants and hotels. The cubes come in standard shapes and sizes. Other business units such as grocery stores or scientific research centers require smaller ice flakes used for packing perishable items.

A few variations of the ice dispenser are listed below. When choosing which is right for you, use this brief outline to assist you:

Refrigerator Ice Dispensers:
May be installed into either top-mount or side-by-side refrigerators. They are easy to install. Maintenance requires you to clean out ice bin periodically to remove old, stale ice.

Freestanding Ice Dispenser:
May stand alone or be installed underneath a counter.
Under-counter units with storage space provide extra versatility. Also, a portable unit may be used anywhere within reach of a plug.

When shopping for a commercial ice machine for your business purpose, some key factors should be incorporated into your choice such as decor and purpose. With decor becoming more and more aesthetically pleasing, there is no longer any need to hide your ice machine.

Additionally, some features are listed below to ensure the ice dispenser you are purchasing will meet the needs you have in mind for your new appliance.

Filter: Ice cubes that taste or smell funny can have an adverse effect on whatever you are using them in, so consider installing a filter to ensure that pure, clean water is used to make ice cubes. Some refrigerators have built-in filters.

Self-Cleaning: If you decide that you need a commercial ice maker, look for one that has a self-cleaning feature. This feature automates the process of emptying the ice bin and cycling a cleaning solution through the unit so you do not have to.

Stainless Steel Construction: Freestanding units made from stainless steel provide long-lasting dependability.
