Moving boxes are cardboard boxes that are as old in origin as it is good for use. These boxes are sturdy and lightweight at the same time. They come in different sizes and cater perfectly to the mover's requirement. The moving supplies kit that most companies offer contains different sizes of cardboard boxes, together with other materials required for packing.

Besides being convenient for handling, the Moving boxes are also very environment friendly in that they are made of recycled material and can be recycled again. So much has changed in the world over the years, but the good old cardboard box has not given up its throne. Plastic has encroached into every arena of our existence and replaced paper bags and cloth bags and containers and covers. But Moving boxes are even today entirely cardboard. To ship every bit of household items, from sturdy kitchen utensils to delicate electronic goods, man still relies on cardboard boxes. Whether he/she is moving to New York from Mexico, or from Alaska to Florida, he/she cannot manage without the right moving supplies and boxes.

The basic ingredients of a moving kit are boxes and rolls of duck tape. Many companies offer moving combo kits designed for specific areas like bedroom or dining room, or specific sized houses or offices. Besides Moving boxes and tape, these combos may contain bubble wrap, theromocole, box marker, wrapping paper and any other material necessary for loose fill. There are also totes and bags of different sizes and shapes that may form part of moving supplies. The packaging company cuts and shapes some of these to suit the material.

A cardboard box designed for packing and moving is a Regular Slotted Carton or RSC and will have four flaps both at the top as well as at the bottom. There are also other designs in the boxes, variously known as Half Slotted Carton or HSC, and Snap Bottom Carton or SBC. These are less used as regular Moving boxes, though a Full Telescope Design or FTD may sometimes be necessary to pack specific objects. Different moving supplies kits contain different sizes of boxes. For example, a standard kit may contain 5 large boxes and 10 medium boxes, along with the related paraphernalia necessary for packing. Medium size boxes are more popular as their packing and handling is easy. However larger boxes are required for packing things like a computer. A box of size 16" x 18" with a height of 18" is normally sufficient for this purpose. The given dimensions of a moving box are inner dimensions, so that even if the object is as long and as wide as the size of the box, it will fit in.

These Moving boxes are environmentalists chum, being biodegradable and recyclable. They are made fully of recycled materials and while using it, users are making their contribution to saving the planet. And once these boxes complete the job of moving your belonging from one place to another, they should ideally be not thrown away. They can be used as storage boxes and can hold many of the things not required for daily use. And those who do not need them for storage purposes can have them sent to the recycling centers of their new place of residence. Believe it or not, these cardboard Moving boxes are eternal and immortal!
