Learning to play the piano is a brilliant skill that a lot of parents would want their kids to acquire. It may sound easy but in reality it is quite difficult to achieve. Choosing the right piano teacher to guide your kids in the learning process as well as selecting the right piano can be as challenging as encouraging your child to practice regularly. It takes a lot of effort, patience, and perseverance on the part of the learner and the teacher to produce an excellent pianist. This article will offer advice on how to get your child to practice regularly without a lot of struggling and resistance.

Commend your kid

It is significant to commend your little whiz frequently. Pay attention to them when they are playing and search for ways to authentically praise your child's skill. The more you commend them, the more confident they would be with their skill and would strive more to enhance it. Make sure also to look for opportunities to commend them in front of other people.

Watch them practice and listen intently

From time to time, take seat and focus on their playing. Do not keep on criticizing or give a lecture if you see some flaws or faults. The mere presence of you will tell them that you care enough on their efforts and achievements. It may require you to be more patient but it will certainly be worth your time and effort. You don’t have to sit with them every time they practice but listen every once in a while even if you are in the kitchen, so that you can praise them on their efforts.

Make Use of Sticker Charts

Sticker charts work well with little children. You can set up one and give them a sticker every time they sit down to practice or give the number of time they played a song completely. Make sure to place it an area where people can easily see them. That way, anybody will have the chance to praise your child which is really an ego booster.

All people wanted to be recognized. It is also a good way to provide positive reinforcement to your child. You can also give special rewards in any ways. It can be candies, or treats. Just make sure that the reward varies from time to time so that they won’t get bored with it.

Involve your child in making rules

Have a talk with your child and schedule the practices and agree on what rewards he should expect. This way they will feel their ideas and opinions are important when making decisions rather than telling them what to do. Since they agreed on the scheduled time of practice, there is no reason for them not to abide by it.

Allow them to play songs that they love

Never insist on making them play something you want or just the classics. Talk to the teacher about letting the kid play the song that he like and let him improve it. Children are more motivated to improve something that they really love to do.

Furthermore, if you let your child play something he likes, they feel more confident in impressing other people. You will find out that it is easier for them to follow their schedule when they do the things they love.
