To know that your child might be suffering from Asperger’s, you have to be familiar with the signs and symptoms that normal children might exude when they are afflicted with this mental developmental disorder. One of the more common categories of this is the social interaction aspect of their development, and this is one of the more common symptoms you might want to look at. Normal children will have no problem expressing themselves in social situations, and they will be dynamic and volatile in a situation where they are introduced to other people.

People with Asperger’s will have a distinct lack of empathy in social situations, and they cannot develop friends as easier as others. They also cannot function in normal social interactions, and they will be typically seen as being withdrawn and unable to string a normal conversation. They also seem to not be able to enjoy the things that children normally do, like playing outside, sports, playing games and the such.

When this is such, you need to understand that normal withdrawal of children is quite separate from Asperger’s which has a consistent and persistent display of such symptoms. You must understand that this condition can get worse and worse is they are not treated at an early age. They would also not be able to maintain eye contact with other people and they are unable to speak much, using physical gestures to communicate with other people. The other aspect of this is that these children might display restricted ad repetitive interests and behaviour, which would often manifest in them concentrating on a single activity or a single practice.

They would sometimes just focus hours on end on a single object, and they would maintain a special interest in a single topic or activity. Over time, these special interests might change, but they would often come back to things that they are comfortable with. You might see them playing a game for hours on end, or looking at an object for days at a time. The last aspect of this spectrum of symptoms, is that they are unable to properly develop the speech and language processes that normal children have. They have often difficulty in learning as well, when information is presented to them in an oral manner.

They would also have difficulty when it comes to understanding figuratively language. These are some of the things you need to know about, aspects of the disease that you need to know about when you want to get help for your child at an early stage. There are many types of therapies and treatments out there in the world of psychology that can be utilised for your child and if detected and treated early, the disease will be able to be suppressed and your child will have a normal life. Asperger’s affects about one in 33 children all over the world, and if more people were educated in this and knew how to pick up on the symptoms, then this figure can be reduced.
