Christian Did It... For... The Rock...
Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen to this edition of Straight Blazin! We are back with the weekly ECW report and this week was shaping up to be a good one coming off the heels of Extreme Rules! Tommy Dreamer had realized his dream of becoming the ECW Champion for only the second time in his long career. With Christian also acting like a heel in the match it was curious to see how he would act on ECW this week! Well lets not waste no more time and get right into the action! And on a secondary note, Pittsburgh Penguins FTW!
We start the show off showing Tiffany in the middle of the ring with a table set up and the ring looking all nice like. There are two chairs in the ring and she begins by saying that with Tommy Dreamer winning the ECW title he has also earned himself another contract! Tommy Dreamer comes out, Looking damn good with the ECW Title, and gets a HUGE pop from the crowd. Tiffany tells Dreamer that she is proud of him for making his dream come true and he should be proud of himself too. Dreamer says that this day looked like it would never come and he begins to cut a very emotional promo where he thanks everyone from the bottom of his heart. Gave me goosebumps as he thanked his family, the wrestling fans, and everyone he could. Excellent promo by Tommy Dreamer and even thought im not his biggest fan, He deserves to be the ECW Champion.
Dreamer goes to sign the contract and out comes Christian who got aVERY mixed reaction from the crowd further making it seem like he will make a heel turn. Christian says he has a present for the crybaby and he says he would like to thank Swagga while Dreamer is thanking people. Christian goes on to thank Swagga for sticking his nose into the match and getting pinned costing Christian the title. Christian then proceeds to call Swagga a dork and say that he will get a rematch and win his ECW title back. He shakes Dreamers hand and Dreamer goes to sign his contract but Swagga’s music hits!
Jack Swagga walks out onto the stage to a chorus of boos. Swagga wants to know why Christian is shaking Tommy Dreamers hand? He also says that no one wants Tommy Dreamer in ECW and everyone came to see Swagga! He goes on to call him fat and a few other things before Tiffany tries to interrupt him and he tells her that she can lose her job if she keeps interrupting him. Swagga then says his Agent and Lawyer will be representing himself AND Christian when they go in front of the board of directors and demand Tommy get stripped of his title. Swagga tells Dreamer he should man up and forfeit the title now.
Christian says that Swagga might have a point, the crowd boos the hell out of him at this point, and he says that Dreamer should do the right thing. He then says just like he is about to and nails Swagga in the gut with a punch, Him and Dreamer both clothesline him out of the ring to the crowds pleasure! Dreamer signs the contract and then he gets on top of the turnbuckle and raises the belt high and the crowd goes nuts. Christian then proceeds to power bomb Dreamer through the table and the crowd looks on shocked. Christian sets the contract on top of Dreamer and exit’s the ring. HOLY HEEL TURN BATMAN!!
We come back from Commercial and Tiffany is in the back and is told that someone in green had just cause a lot of damage to the catering area.. Not sure what the hell this means exactly.. But I guess it will come into play at some point. She then asks Christian what exactly that was in the ring and he replies that it was a receipt. She informs him that since Dreamer cannot compete tonight, His partner will be Jack Swagga when they take on The Hart Dynasty. Christian smirks and exit’s the room as Tiffany watches him go with a disappointed look on her face. They show a video now about how lately Tony Atlas has been having problems with Mark Henry.
Evan Bourne defeats Tony Atlas w/ Mark Henry
Well basically.. This match was just to further the problems between Mark Henry and Tony Atlas and to continue to misuse Evan Bourne. Tony Atlas controlled the better part of this match by showing off his pure strength and doing a lot of powerful moves. He did a lot of chinlocks and rest holds on the ground showing his strength. A few power slams and a couple near falls later we have ourselves a boring match folks! Atlas tried to get Mark Henry to interfere and help him out but he wouldn’t move. Atlas looks like he has the match won until Bourne nails a sick looking move then hit’s the Shooting Star Press for the win. Mark Henry then proceeds to finally do something and attack Evan Bourne from behind and beat the crap out of him.
Match Rating: 2/5
It was a pretty pointless match and they are using their most explosive superstar to further a feud with Mark Henry and Tony Atlas? FAIL
Vladimir Koslov defeats two random jobbers!
Once again we see Vladimir Koslov going against two people at the same time but the problem is they are two jobbers who are doomed from the start. The match was very slow and Vladimir put on a showing as usual. He hit the head butt on one of the guys after Belly To Back suplexing the other guy. He then hit his spine buster slam thing and picked up the victory about as easy as possible.
Match Rating: 1/5
Its getting old seeing Vladimir tear through random jobbers and not doing much of ANYTHING! Give him someone to work with and put him out there and show he can do something. If not he’s just sitting here taking up space to someone who could be doing better. Overall this is getting tiring every single week seeing the same crap from him.. DO SOMETHING WITH HIM!
We cut to the back to see Christian and Jack Swagga in the locker room together and the crowd instantly boos. Christian is doing a job of being a heel even if he isn’t trying it at this point. Swagga proceeds to tell Christian he can tell he doesn’t want to be his partner tonight but he better hold his end of the bargain up. Swagga exits and Christian looks on with a serious face making it seem there is something brewing between these two!
The Hart Dynasty defeats Christian and Jack Swagga
Before the match The Hart Dynasty comes out, to the AWESOME riff that makes me mark, and makes their way to the ring. Natalya gets on the mic, she was looking FANTASTIC by the way, and she begins to cut a promo for the team. She says that tonight they are facing two FORMER ECW champions and she promises that Hart Dynasty will show the difference between former and future champions! It was short and sweet but it works for Natalya being their mouthpiece. I think she fits perfectly into that role and that whole group is more than impressive.
The match was a definite main event type match! The Hart Dynasty looking amazing as usual and showin why they are the future of wrestling! Christian and Swagga played the whole “I Don’t wanna tag with you” scenario by doing a couple of blind tags to each other. Constant tension from them the whole match which you know would just lead to their defeat. A couple good spots from all the guys in the match, At the end it looked like Christian had the upper hand and would win the match for his team! Swagga turns on him and sets him up for The Hart Dynasty to hit the Hart Attack and to pick up the win! The match was a very good back and forth match and is worth a watch for sure.
After the match Jack Swagga and The Hart Dynasty start stomping Christian and beating him up. The crowd erupts in cheers and running down the ramp is Tommy Dreamer with a Kendo Stick! Hart Dynasty gets out without getting hit but Swagga takes a coupel good shots from the Kendo Stick. Dreamer clears the ring and yells as the crowd cheers! Dreamer the points the Kendo Stick at Christian and jaws off to him saying that he’ll get his revenge sometime soon.
Match Rating: 4/5
Purely based on that The Hart Dynasty is awesome to watch in the ring and the tag match delivered to the fullest! The end to it was a good thing too because it keeps Christian at this tweener stage.. He is face but acts like a heel with Dreamer.
Overall Show Rating: 5/10
Two squash matches and one good match doesn’t equal out to something I really want to watch. The opening promo was excellent but it wasn’t enough to keep me into this show to the fullest.
Stay Blazin!
