There are a thousand different jobs, that we all see being done every day: our own, in our office, whether we're managers or firm owners, the work of shopkeepers, that of industrial workers, drivers, singers, actors…

But behind, and below, this mass of work moving our economy forward, there's another, just as vast and most of all just as important, as it makes it possible for all the other jobs we just named to be started every morning quickly, efficiently, simply. Secret jobs, though they happen right under our gaze.

And one of these jobs was probably done last night, or early this morning, even at your desk, in the very room you're sitting in now, with your papers on the table, your monitor in front of your eyes, and a world of things to do.
Before you got here, somebody cleaned up.

Obvious? Perhaps. But also absolutely true - and work-wise, just as huge an endeavor as the ones awaiting your attention once you're done reading this article.

And as for all jobs, also for professional cleaning there are professionals - and specific tools. While dusting a bookcase, or putting a desk in order, are simple things each of us does in our homes, perspective shifts completely, and so does the quantity of work involved, when we get to a professional level. This was the topic of our discussion with Apex, an Italian Company celebrating this very year its sixtieth birthday, which is specialized just in the production of tools and products for home and professional cleaning.

And in fact, it is only when your audience is made of professionals, on the field every day facing the complications of this job, that you find out how what is a simple nuisance in a home environment can become utterly pressing matters in the context of professional cleaning, as in the case of office buildings or industrial plants.

Think of an easy gesture, such as wringing a wet cloth! We won't need to do it more than a dozen times, if we're cleaning a room. But when our goal is to make an entire office building clean and homely, that handful of wasted seconds , that insignificant efforts, sums with itself until it becomes a huge waste of time and energies which can and must be eliminated. And doing so requires no more than a little original thinking, and an eye put to the problem, for systems like Apex's Squizzo to be born, allowing to wring a cloth without even having to bend down.

But this is just the smallest example of a view that a Company can intelligently apply to successfully create tools which really change the way its customers work. Think of a simple dust scoop: it's such a simple object that it seems tough to even imagine a modification to its shape. Yet, a simple change like widening its base allowed for a steadier and easier to use tool - leading to hundreds of hours saved in a full year of work!

Hygiene is a safeguard for all of us: it reduces illnesses, it improves our health, and it also makes it more pleasant to face a day at work. Fortunately, the right tools make it easier for those who do it for a job to guarantee these advantages to us all.
