Brides can wear whatever they like on their wedding day. But should they?

If the fashion of some brides is anything to go by, the use of trashy and slinky should be regulated. Cheap wedding dresses need not look shoddy or vulgar; they can be elegant and beautiful. It all depends on how these cheap wedding dresses are designed and how they are worn. But try telling that to the brides who have long gone down flickr history for their infamous choice of wedding day whoppers!

Below is a line-up of cheap wedding dresses that reveal more skin than they hide. Unless you want to give guests a preview of what your groom will be seeing on your wedding night, shun these dresses like they're the plague!

1. The Mariah. This is what the Mariah dress is made of: stockings, garter belt, and a fashion piece that looks more like an undergarment than a dress. The Mariah ends where your panties should, and is more appropriate worn on honeymoon nights than on the wedding day itself.

2. The Cleavage Wagon. The cleavage wagon is hard not to notice. Picture a flowing, lacy dress that's full-skirted and billowy from the waist down and completely lacking in material from the waist up.

But on second thought, lacking in material may even be an understatement. There is practically no material to cover the body parts above the waist. All there is are two pointy pieces of fabric to cover the brides' nipples, and a very elaborate necklace to cover her collarbones. If you're thinking of asking the bridal shops in Mississauga to make you the cleavage wagon dress, think long and hard on this question: who do you want your groom to marry? Your cleavage or you?

3. The Showgirl. Bare your heart on your wedding day if you must. But please, keep the rest of you covered. While excessive show of skin can launch careers in Vegas, it won't launch your wedding.

4. The Hotpants. A skimpy romper with lace at the top for a wedding dress? Please! There is absolutely nothing wrong with being comfortable on your wedding day. But comfortable is one thing; practically naked is another. Even if you only have room for cheap wedding dresses on your budget, you have no business picking out a dress that skimps on fabric yardage. More than any other day on your calendar, your wedding is the best day to cover up and beautifully so.

5. The Bikini. Brides dream of beach weddings; who doesn't? But getting married in the beach does not mean walking down the aisle in your bikini. Give your groom a break. You have tons of cheap wedding dresses to choose from. Don't choose the one that's guaranteed to give his mother a heart attack.

Remember, where bridal fashion is concerned, cheap wedding dresses do not have to look cheapo at all. The same goes for wedding cakes. If you know where to look and how, you can stretch the dollar without stretching the patience of family and friends.
