Plumbing is a great career choice and if you have any desire to own your own company it is a perfect choice. Plumbing is an age old and very worthwhile trade that is always in demand, pays well and frequently allows you to have your business. If you prefer the idea of working for an established company, large or small, there are plenty of opportunities there as well.

How Do I Become A Plumber?
To become a plumber you need to take plumbing training. Plumber courses will provide the academic or theory side of the career while the required on the job training (OJT) ensures you apply what you have learned. The OJT requirements to become a fully licensed plumber vary depending on your location, your local code enforcement agency can tell you what the specifics are. In many cases you need to practice your plumbing under the direct supervision of a licensed plumber for three years before yo can become licensed yourself.

Plumbing Training At A Trade School
Plumbing training courses are available through a wide variety of sources and depending on your personal situation and preferences you will find one avenue more to your liking than the others. One avenue for plumbing courses is to attend a trade school. Trade schools will get on track quickly and make it so that you can practice your trade as soon as possible. Plumbing trade schools can be found via the Internet or your phone book. Another good way is to check with local plumbers and see what school or schools they recommend. Since you will likely hire on with one of the plumbers it is a good idea to know what schools they think highly of.

Plumbing Training is Important For Safety Reasons
Plumbing training courses are very important because the field of plumbing has a direct impact to health and safety on everyone. Plumbers directly impact how clean drinking water is brought to the home or residence and how sewage is carried away from the home or business. These aspects make it vital that a plumber understand how to do their job and do it in a safe and efficient manner.

Employers Seek Plumbers from Trade Schools
Employers know that trade schools are a great source of potential employees. So you get the added benefit of employers seek potential employees from trade schools. They know that the potential employee has been taught formally, they know what was taught and they have a better idea of what level of skill the employee will be working at once they have finished their plumbing training.

Plumbing is a very sound profession to choose as plumbers are always in demand regardless of how the economy is doing. Repair of existing plumbing works is never something that is put off. When a pipe bursts people want it fixed right away. When a drain backs up people want that fixed right away. Any new construction requires the use of a plumber. The addition to existing construction requires the use of a plumber. Plumbing is a very stable field that offers job security and a decent wage and does not require years of college for those that do not wish to go to college.
