The state of New Hampshire is known for many things but one of the best known attractions is the great outdoors. New Hampshire is home to a number of spectacular scenic state parks, the highest mountains is the Northeast area, and both sandy beaches as well as sparkling lakes. The state is also home to numerous historic sites and hosts multiple festivals throughout the year. Wherever visitors to New Hampshire decide to spend their vacation they will be sure to find something they will enjoy.

The state of New Hampshire is made up of seven individual and distinct areas that all offer something unique and exciting. Those areas include the Monadnock Region, Merrimack Valley, the Great North Woods, White Mountains, the Lakes Region, the Seacoast, and Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee. The outdoor lover will have the opportunity to explore everything from beaches to waterfalls to mountains here and can bask in all the natural beauty that the state has to offer. In the Great North Woods adventurous visitors can enjoy everything from boating to fishing to snowmobiling making it a perfect vacation spot for anytime of year. In the White Mountain Region vacationers can get in touch with their adventurous side by climbing one of the areas high mountain peaks or hiking through the 800,000 acre forest. Throughout the Lakes Region visitors to the state will find numerous places where they can sit back and relax and enjoy the spectacular natural surroundings. Visitors to the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee region can enjoy the peacefulness of the rolling farmlands or sit back and relax next to one of the areas pristine and calming lakes. In the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire vacationers have the chance to experience New England natural scenery at its very best. Merrimack Valley offers a number of year-round festivals and outdoor activities throughout the states three largest cities. Finally, the state’s Seacoast area offers 18 miles of magnificent coastline and exciting resort towns that are great for family vacations for those that enjoy being outside and enjoying the fresh air. Wherever the nature lover decides to spend their outdoor vacation they will be sure to find something exciting to occupy their time.

The state of New Hampshire also is home to a number of interesting historical sites as well. Visitors can visit such sites as the Governor John Langdon Mansion, the Tobias Lear House, William Damm Garrison House, or the Portsmouth Harbor Trail just to name a few places. For the true history lovers there is the opportunity to visit the best of the nation’s living history museums at the Northern Forest Heritage Park located in Berlin, New Hampshire, or the Mariposa Museum. There is an endless supply of historical education to be found here no matter which part of the state you decide to visit.

From history museums to gorgeous state parks to skiing to fishing to year-round festivals guests who visit the state of New Hampshire will always find something exciting to do whether vacationing with the whole family or getting away for some much needed alone time.
