It can't be denied that many individuals throughout the world enjoy the beauty of candles but few people know that some candles are not all together good for your health. Some candles when burned release a soot into the air which is then breathed in by your family. Although the soot released from these candles isn't a huge health risk it is probably not something you want to be breathed in by yourself and your family. Most often the candles that release this are of the cheaper variety found at such place as dollar type stores but doing a little research on candles before you buy isn't a bad idea. One way to avoid buying these candles is to find a cleaner alternative. There are a number of these cleaner alternatives out there, you only have to choose the right one for you.

One safer alternative to traditional candles are beeswax candles. Beeswax candles are all natural and do not produce the black soot that cheaper candles do so they are much better to burn in your home. In fact, beeswax candles are actually known to clean the air when burned. This is attributed to the negative ions that are produced when beeswax candles are burned. These negative ions work to reduce odors in the air and clean such things as smoke, mold, dust mites, pollen, and viruses from the air as well. The only disadvantage to beeswax candles is that they are a bit higher priced than traditional candles and some of the other options there are. For those that have the extra money to spend on beeswax candles though they are a great, healthier alternative.

Another safer alternative to traditional candles are soy candles. Soy candles were first created in 1992 by a maker looking for a cheaper alternative to beeswax candles but just as safe. These little treasures not only 100% natural but are also 100% recyclable. Although soy candles do produce a small amount of soot it is still 90% less than the amount produced by traditional candles. Soy candles are also much more economical than beeswax candles so you can have a clean burning candle that cost much less. Finally, soy candles tend to burn twice as long as traditional candles as well. For those individuals who love candles but want to provide healthy, clean burning candles for their family without spending a ton of money soy candles are definitely the way to go.

Candles add such a relaxing and luxurious element to any home and it only furthers the feeling of contentment that they give when you know that they are not releasing harmful chemicals into the air your family breaths. Beeswax and soy candles give your home that little bit of luxury without the black soot that is so commonly seen when burning traditional paraffin wax candles. These candles are just as beautiful, often smell better, and are far safer. Once you begin using beeswax or soy candles you see exactly why they are becoming so popular.
