Game testing and working as a video game tester is a dream job for many people. Before you try to find a position as a game tester there are some things that you should do. To become a game tester, you must make sure that you understand the market and what the video game companies are looking for in their testers. It is possible to earn a living testing video games, but only if you do your homework first.

The first thing that you should understand is that the job is not all fun and games. To become a game tester, you must understand that game testing is a job that requires you to take it very seriously. Those who have an interest in video games that is a little more than just a passing fancy will find the career as a game tester quite lucrative. This is also a good start for those who are looking to work in the gaming industry in a number of other positions.

There are a number of tests happening at all times that require testers to try out the beta version of a new game. You should participate in these games to understand what is required of a game tester and what kind of work you can expect to accomplish. This will also give the passionate gamer some wonderful chances to play a new game before it is introduced on the market.

Begin learning about the various platforms that you will be testing games on. The more platforms you have knowledge about, the more valuable you will be to the industry. Take some time to learn about the operating systems and platforms for each of the major game consoles on the market. The video game companies are going to expect some useful and real information from you when you are testing their games.

There is some work required to be a video game tester, but once you have the knowledge and skills on your side, you will be able to earn a living doing something that you love to do. Any job can become tedious over time so be prepared to test games that you simply don’t enjoy. You must be willing and able to let the video game company know what is wrong with the game and what you did not enjoy about it. You should also be able to communicate effectively with the company so that they can use the information that you give them.

Any job or career that you decide to do will require some work and effort. If you really want to become a game tester, you must be willing to put in the time and work. Make sure that you have a true passion for the games and you will find that your work is pleasurable to you. Those who love what they do are often much more satisfied in their work and are often more successful than those who do not. Choose the career that offers you the most job satisfaction such as video game testing.
