It is always nice to remember the happy times you had as a child. This can be a great way to relieve the stress of a busy day at work or school or a long day with your family. As adults, the pressure of our every day lives can be difficult at times so it is nice to go back in your mind to good times you had as a child. As a child you had no worries and few responsibilities. Your biggest worry was wondering if you would get your homework done in time to watch TV or if your mother was making something you liked for dinner.

There is a lot of magic and fun in childhood. Children can have conversations with their favorite dolls and they believe that Christmas presents come from Santa Claus who delivers them in his sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. It is a very innocent time. Children don't have to worry about getting a job and paying bills, they don't have to worry about dating or getting married and they don't have to cook or clean. Childhood is a fun and innocent time we all miss from time to time.

There is no way to go back and be a child again, sadly so all we have are our fond memories of childhood that we can look back on and smile. As soon as I turned 7, my parents switched from buying toys for me to play with to buying books for me to read. This was a great gift because I learned to love reading and I am still an avid reader today as a result.

I have a huge collection of books ranging from Nancy Drew to Harry Potter. The books didn't keep me from playing because the games my friends I loved most were dress up games. We had so much fun playing dress up games together and would create scenarios from books and from our imagination to act out. We could be anything we wanted when we played dress up including a princess, a witch, a fairy, a detective like Nancy Drew, an explorer, a dancer, a television star and even more. We were creative and used our imagination and that had to have something to do with the fact that many of my friends have creative careers in fields like interior design, writing and the movie industry.

Children today can play the same kind of dress up games but in a new and innovative way. They can play online dress up games on the computer with familiar Bratz and Barbie doll characters. With a click of a mouse they can drag and drop outfits onto the virtual dolls. These are fun for children but it is kind of sad that they don't really play dress up the old-fashioned way like we did when we were kids anymore. There is a lot more connection and imagination when you and your friends are playing dress up and making up your own stories. You can form very strong bonds this way.
